In this episode of 'All Figured Out' I take a look at the 1980's transforming action figures 'Rock Lords' a majorly underappreciated line that I have loved all of my life, yet one that even now most people have never even heard of. Hopefully this new video i have put together, shines a little light on the line, their Japanese Machine Robo origin and their original Gobots animated movie!
This was honestly one of the longest and most time consuming toy review episodes I have ever made so i really hope ya dig it!

I was never in to Rock Lords. But when I saw them in Machine Robo, I saw them in a whole new way. When they ran at the enemy, jumped into the air, turned into a rock and smashed the hell out of them...I was like, "Holy shit! That was beast"!

Yeah, didn't know there was already killer anime of the GoBots that weren't 2nd Hand Transformers. Then again, we didn't have a lot of money, so I'd keep getting Bumble Bee or the Blue and Red Truck...occasionally one of the cassettes. Then one Santa Xmas I got Soundwave.

Loved rock lords, remember renting the VHS loads, had 2 of the crystal lords and both the dinosaur ones, and a few of wave one and two. I collected rocks and gems, so this was my jam

Love this overview of the Rock Lords figures. I did a search as I picked up Boulder today from a little vintage toy shop. I had him as a kid and knew nothing of the franchise so I had to pick him up. After watching your vid and the passion you have this line I so want to pick up more. That rock vehicle is awesome. I’m usually a transformer and Micronauts guy but these might be my next venture. I love your attitude. I agree. People have the monkey see monkey do mentality. I think everyone feels the need to hate on Go-Bots and RockLords bc it’s “the thing to do”. Just bc Transformers was more elaborate and expressive they feel the need to shit all over the other transformable robot lines. They feel you have to like one of the other. I loved both. I was obsessed with both. They both seemed so different from one another. This one Transformer fan once famously said he wanted a transformer for his birthday and his dad gave him a go-bot and ungratefully threw it into a fire. Hate people like that. I loved your enthusiasm for this line. I always felt I was the only one that loved it. Btw rocks can become hard to hurt and can cause massive damage to a person or thing. I always thought they were powerful. Oh, rumor has it that the transformers line will be coming out with RockLords next year. They own the rights.

Actually Challenge of the GoBots predated the Machine Robo cartoon by two years. Bandai initially didn't bother making a cartoon. It was with the success of GoBots and Transformers cartoons that they decided to make the Machine Robo anime. In fact Revenge of Chronos episode 1 first aired four months AFTER the Battle of the Rock Lords movie.

I just started collecting Rock Lords. I've had Boulder and Magmar for years, but I picked up a few at a toy show, and fell down a rabbit hole. I just got Pulver-eyes from eBay, and I had the same standing problem. I had to take him apart and use some clear nail polish to tighten his joints.

I think your Pullver-eyes is just knackered, I've had mine for a few years and hes solid as a rock, never knew he had standing issues. Also, Fossilsaurus was a cancelled release for Rocklords, but he came out in Machine Robo Battle Hackers, I actually got him last week, ended up paying around 400$ with shipping but its practically new. hes pretty fucking sick.

I had all the basic set and a few narlies as a kid. Sadly like most of my childhood toys my mother discarded them without my knowing. Was at a antique store yesterday and found a new on card granite for $90. I was surprised. I had the Green Giga Rock. Justnhad a weird dream that a boulders smashed thru my window and unfolded to be a Rock Monster from TMNT. And like i ran my car off thebhill and climbed out the hatchback in time. And my first hand up on tip of the hill was smashed by another Rock Soldier.
