My pleasure Barb, don’t give up quickly, it took ten rocks of paint pouring and trying different ways to get the nice looking ones, but I hadn’t seen this video, so hopefully this video will make it easier for you to get them right the first time ... and thank you so much for your support, I got your order 💕

I’m a recently retired teacher (32 years) and since I can’t afford to move to my dream place, (Scotland, from Ohio) I’ve taken up crafting and am enjoying Rock Painting at the present. Q.1. Do you prep your rocks before you do a pour? Q.2. Does pouring the paint give the surface a smother finish? Q.3. Can you add the decal letters straight on a rock, if so how does it handle a somewhat pitted surface? Thank you for answering any of my questions. :-) Your ROCKS are GORGEOUS!!!
@RocktasticArts2 жыл бұрын
1. No I only prep them if I’m going to paint with a brush on them. 2. Not really, it’s just as smooth as using regular paint with a brush. 3. I would gloss the pitted rock first, that will make it smoother then add the decal, it should stick perfectly fine. Thank you for your kind words :)

This is fun! I know in your last rock pouring tutorial you used a base color first and these you didn’t. Can you explain the difference? Thank you! Also do you do the bottoms of the rock?
@RocktasticArts3 жыл бұрын
I found when I do a base colour the paints are brighter 😊
@RocktasticArts3 жыл бұрын
And yes, I paint the bottom black when the rock is dry, I have to sand it down sometimes if too much paint gathered there.

Do you paint the back as well?

I can't wait to try this...lovely, lovely rocks! Are you mixing the floetrol with each individual paint first, and then adding to the one cup? Or is it one part floetrol in the cup - then you just add each paint color to that?
@RocktasticArts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you... I am mixing each paint one part paint and one part floetrol. Then I pour the mix into one cup... I know it’s a little bit confusing, but trust be it works so well... have fun 💕

I enjoyed your tutorial. Can you tell me what kind of sealer you use over the vinyl?
@RocktasticArts4 жыл бұрын
I don’t Seal the vinyl. I buy the shiny waterproof one, and because it’s good for six years outside, I don’t seal it. If I use the matt type I Seal it with duraclear gloss varnish. I stopped using the Matt vinyl a long time ago. I like this shiny type a lot more. Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Love your rocks, looks so fun! I’m not clear about the base you seem to mix and the type of paint your using. Is it acrylic? Could I use Metallic?
@RocktasticArts3 жыл бұрын
Thank you… I use chalk paint as the base, and I use acrylic paint:.. and yes of course you can use metallic paint

Wow, love this, thanks!! How long does it take to dry??
@RocktasticArts3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 It takes 24 hours to dry, it’s pretty quick but you need to make sure that you don’t have too much paint on the rock
