Ale reminds me of Joe Perry from Aerosmith. Really really really ridiculously good looking bu doesn't say much. Unlike Aerosmith though Dany and Pau are also really really really ridiculously good looking. Dany's aggressive and growly voice gives me chills. Paulina's is more soothing. You would think it would be the other way around by the way they play their instruments.

Here's a couple options. If you want to stay with their newer stuff they just recently released a couple videos with studio recordings "Automatic Sun" and "Que Mas Quieres" (the drummer Pau came up with the idea for this video, wrote the screenplay and co-directed it.) If you want to stick to live you should check out their live performance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. They performed 'More' (which was their newest single at the time) and 'Evolve' Both are great but that 'Evolve' performance is unbelievable. Or more recently there is a video of a live performance of “Hell You Call A Dream” Or, you could go back and see how they started out. The video that put them on the map, so to speak, was their cover of Enter Sandman in 2014 when they were 14, 12, and 9. They posted it on youtube to share their grandparents since the file was too big to email and it ended up going viral and has over 25 million views now. They do have live videos of them playing that are even older than that. If you want to continue watching them grow you could check out their two TEDx talks. Their first one from 2016 (Titled "Young Girls Love to Rock." when they were 15, 13, and 11) did so well for TEDx they were invited back the next year (Titled "You've been warned!") If you do react to the TEDx talks, make sure to not skip over the speaking parts. TWA loves to see reactions to the whole talk.

"Dust to dust" is the prologue of their second album "Queen Of The Murder Scene", a concept album divided in 4 chapters about a young woman who descends in to madness and murder. The Lunario Concert (2018) was the presentation of the finished album and you can react to the concert. Some song were still performed in Teatro Metropolitan concert (2022)
@americanswan
@americanswan 7 ай бұрын
How's this for some context. Lunario is a "small" venue they played in 2018. They played the whole QOTMS album in order there. If you walk a very short distance out of Lunario, like down a hallway, and open a side door, you'd be looking into the empty Auditorium National, which holds 10,000. The Warning while touring Europe in April 2024 sold out the Auditorium National in less than 2 hours a few days ago. The concert is for February 2025. 10 months away. I can imagine these three little girls in 2018 knowing right over there is a 10k venue they want to play in.

Honestly, you just can't go wrong with any of their songs. Everything from this concert is absolute fire. Honestly, I think their best live performance to date was Evolve at the 2023 MTV VMAs. Dust to Dust is the prologue to their 2018 concept album called Queen of the Murder Scene. If you really want to dive into that particular rabbit hole, i would suggest their concert in 2018 at Lunario CDMX. And it's always mind blowing when you stop and think at that 2018 concert they were 18, 16, and 13 years old. Don't forget they also have new music coming out and their 4th album drops on June 28th. I trust you'll get to all of it eventually.

Hey Phil! This song has a very Middle Eastern chord progression and rhythm. The music makes me feel like I am riding a camel in a caravan across the desert. This song is the first track and Prolog into their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", and is set at a funeral. The lyrics basically invite you in to hear a story. The spoken Spanish in the bridge is Rudy, their manager, playing the part of "The Preacher" at the funeral. The album tells a story of a girl with a crush, that turns into obsession, Stalking and... you will have to listen to it, to learn more. And do the LIVE versions from Lunario to see the show!

Since I'm (im)patiently waiting for the next reaction I'll chime in here to join the chorus thanking you for a real reaction to The Warning. I love hearing someone that can both enjoy the music and nerd out over why it's working. I have barely any technical musical knowledge but felt that you did an awesome job communicating your thoughts. Gotta agree with everyone saying that this entire concert is worth a listen/reaction, but to add something new to the recommendations I'll mention the song When I'm Alone. Dany wrote it by herself (a very rare thing) and I'm sure you'll get the backstory on it from TWA. This song is in the Teatro Metropolitan concert and I love their crafting of the performance, everything including the lighting cues. But, there's another version of the song that I think is worth a listen. They also performed in their home town of Monterrey and Dany played a solo acoustic version of it and had a really incredible moment with the crowd. If you do ever get to that song I'd beg for both version to be covered.

Phil, your analysis is great. I'm looking for more than just some half baked comments. I'm 70 years old, a bass player and I have an undergrad degree in music. Recently I have joined the Warning Army. I guess I'm some sort of senior member or something like that. They are hands down the best band I have heard in many years. I listen to many genres of music including classical and jazz. I think you have to go back to the rock bands of my younger years to find comparisons. Cream, Rush, the Police and others. They have the energy, the technical talent and the creativity to be in that league. Maybe even the Beatles. WE shall see. I expect more great things. They are a gift to humanity.

It's amazing how many of us are in the over-50 age range, but what's even more amazing is the younger fans are fine with it. Years ago, I was a big fan of a certain Canadian indie duo (also sisters), and the fan base wasn't too keen on older fans, despite the Quinn twins being closer to my age than theirs at the time. With The Warning, you're only required to have a pulse, and even that may be optional!
@envaleorex7361
@envaleorex7361 6 ай бұрын
@@TheREALJosephTurner Ha, pretty funny - the pulse comment. Well, I think I've still got one - last time I checked. But really this band is something unusual. They are emerging organically (without corporate involvement). They are super talented on their instruments. But maybe more important they are very very creative. One thing I'd say: They have awareness of more complex harmonic structures under melodies, but they tend to still fall back on a fairly block type form. I think they will get more sophisticated in their structure as they continue. I actually hear some prog rock in them. The other thing is Ale - I think she will begin to write more complex lines and hopefully sing. She's great - truly, but still a baby musician. The problem is that she's got to deal with these two extreme extroverts who are both great singers. She has to literally find her own voice in her own more reserved way, and somehow fit that into the list. But yeh, they do seem to be alright with old boomers. Maybe this will somehow save the world!!
@xxwookey
@xxwookey 6 ай бұрын
@@envaleorex7361 I do think it must have been a little strange in their early years to have so many fans who were frankly 'old blokes' (fascinated by this band). I wonder what that felt like from their end. I guess a young band will always have at least some fans older than them, but this seemed a fairly extreme case. It could have been creepy, but pretty-much everyone seems to have been very respectful. OK 50-something isn't actually that old any more, but it seems it to teenagers, who think 23 is old :-) I never went to any gigs, so I don't know what the in-person age/gender-profile looks like. Probably a lot younger than the youtube comments section. :-)

Ale is an incredibly bassist. For a little bass fun, pop over to the full video for the Luario concert (where they basically debuted their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene). Right before the concert proper starts, as the lights slowly fade up, a 13 year old Ale plays a 30-second improvised bass line that's freaking amazing ... then proceeds to grab the entire crowd by the throat. You don't see this in the song-by-song edits of the Lunario concert, but it starts at 12:27 in the full, unedited footage (which is also available on The Warning's channel).

The warning fandom is gonna grow.... I like rock but here and there but I felt as if I became a hugeeee fan the same day I discovered them lol I listened as many songs as I could the first day. And I'm not Mexican but as a Latina I'm happy and proud and the fact that they still have songs in Spanish is amazing.

Pau has incredible talent. Songwriting, instruments, vocals and has now co-directed their latest video. She's unstoppable. Dany's vocals are also incredible as you'll soon see. All three are skilled singers. They have no bad songs and you'll enjoy whatever you listen to. That's what makes them such a great band.

Love your reactions -- they are more attentive to detail than most others I've seen. If you ever get around to reacting the "Queen of the Murder Scene" album, I've always thought it would be cool to go into the lyrics along with the other elements -- considering that it was a concept album they came up with when they were pre-teens to mid-teens (impressive on it's on)! That whole album, in order, could be a mini-movie or a "rock opera".

@@PhilZero And to be sure, I was thinking mostly about how young they were when they wrote those lyrics. I cringe when I think of myself when I was that age and realize how incompetent I was at most anything, much less attempting a concept album. It's just impressive AF.

It's kind of interesting - Paulina is the "middle" sister; younger than Dany and older than Ale (they are all roughly two years apart). For several years as they all were in their pre-teen and teen ages, Pau was the "deeper" vocal register - including when they wrote this piece back in 2016 or so. So their vocal combinations were written with this dynamic in mind. However, since Ale had a couple growth spurts that now make her significantly taller than her older sisters, she has in more modern songs tended to take the lower vocal registers. But "Dust to Dust" deliberately made use of Pau's more smoky vocal registers to give the tune a vaguely creepy "funeral" tone in fitting with the storyline, of which this is merely the prelude.

Loving it, Phil. Great video. As for what's next? If you want heavy, "Disciple" from the same concert... in fact, all these recommendations are from the Full Concert Live at "Teatro Metropólitan" (CDMX). If you want Pau's best vocal performance, an acoustic song called, "Revenant". Punky hard rock crossover with killer lyrics? "Animosity". Hard, driving old school rock? "Money" or "Kool Aid Kids"... any song from the Teatro Metropólitan show is worth a listen. The opus from a concept album? "Queen of the Murder Scene"... dude, the rabbit hole is deep. Enjoy.

@@PhilZero My advice would be to do a two-in one video of the MTV VMA set ('More' and 'Evolve'). Two main reasons why- First, when 'More' starts, less than a half-dozen people in that crowd even knew who The Warning were. You get to see them win the crowd over, then melt their faces off with 'Evolve.' Second- the real gem in my opinion- is you get to see how dynamic Ale is when singing backup. She goes high on 'More,' and then low on 'Evolve.' I always recommend the pair of videos for these reasons!

Bear in mind, this song is the prologue to *Queen of the Murder Scene,* a rock novel from 2018. They are 17, 20, and 22 at this performance. They wrote, composed, recorded, and self-published the album in 2017-2018, so do the math! They were teenagers! Just this week, they dropped a music video of *Que Mas Quieres* that Paulina conceived and codirected. It's gorgeous, campy, lush, and funny. It's also full of cultural symbolism, Easter eggs, and clues about the rest of their new album. They see no end to creativity. They're just getting started.

@@PhilZeroIn one song at this show (won't tell you which), Dany's voice broke a bit on a high note and they did not clean it up. No one cares in the least. As Beethoven said, a wrong note is of no consequence, but to play without passion is inexcusable. No fear of that.

They have really challenged themselves to develop new skills and techniques. Dust to Dust was released in 2018, Z in 2022, though it was ready to go in 2020 but COVID slowed down recording. Their next album releases next month and if I know the Warning at all they probably have half of the next album started.
