Sharon has so many charming qualities to her voice. You can tell she uses so much natural talent, and doesn’t have many years of professional training, especially when she sings live. For a couple of recommendations: I would say “Faster” shows some good range, and the cover of “Titanium” (David Guetta) is just a kick ass song. My personal fav would be “The Truth Beneath the Rose”. Enjoy discovering more of Within Temptation.

Great reaction! If you want to see some more of her range I would recommend Stand my Ground (live at Black Symphony). Added bonus with that is that it is an awesome live performance as well! Some of their later stuff also shows more range, like Shot in the Dark and Faster.

No sequel. People are saying Paradise yes BUT live version so you don't get copyrighted. Sharon uses her full vocal range on Faster. If you go to their KZbin channel, Sharon has been uploading concerts on their channel. Always find the live versions because copyright bots love Within Temptation.

Great band. Definitley in the same genre as Nightwish and there is a video Where Tarja Turenen guests in called Paradise. A great video to check out. The video itself and the performances by Tarja and of course Sharon den Adel lead singer of Within Temotation. Her parents are Dutch and American respectively. She speaks perectly fluent English and the accent vanishes when singing. She is a few years older then Tarja and is still an amazing singer. The video does look early 2000s. Since it was released in 2004, that makes sense still holds up today.

I know little enough but I have never heard her go low. Just high soprano. I can at least name a few songs I love of theirs, Mad World, And we Run with US Rapper X-ibit ( of MTV's pimp my ride fame), Faster, Shot in the dark and Supernova. Espiscally shot in the dark shows off the band really well. Singing in what looks like a stage in a wharehouse . clean sound and no didtractions other than it looks very cold. As in you can see their breath. Wether its real or added after I don't know. But as she's wearing a jacket...? 😎😅

I wouldnt say Within Temptation is the same genre as Nightwish at all. Within Temptation nowadays are more pop-techno-rock than metal. Within Temptation's first 2 or 3 albuns could be called Symphonic metal, but nowadays there is nothing symphonic about their sound, they are more likely to use techno sounds than an orchestral backdrop. There is also little to qualify then as metal, from the start they were barely metal, they were always on the lighter side and they only got lighter with the years. Nightwish itself is already on the lighter side of metal, but they are much heavier than within temptation. Nightwish has a typical metal tone to their bass/guitar, also Tuomas has a penchant for the occasional trash metal riff and most of their tracks are played with an orchestral backdrop. Within temptation has none of these elements.
@cecyliamaiden19733 жыл бұрын
@@juyifan7933 considering that both, NW and WT were one of the first in the genre and are considered precursors, you are very wrong. I also bet that you’ve never hear WT first album, Enter. Cute though.
@juyifan79333 жыл бұрын
@@cecyliamaiden1973 Nightwish may be considered one of the first symphonic metal bands. But WT definitely wasnt. A band like Therion is significantly more foundational to the Symphonic Metal genre than within temptation. I have in fact heard most WT albuns (except for the very first), I like the band, but it isnt metal nowadays, and definitely is not Symphonic Metal.
@cecyliamaiden19733 жыл бұрын
@@juyifan7933 haha, Nightwish and WT are both considered one of the first symphonic metal bands, they were created the same year and both shaped the genre and had major influence on newer bands. This just shows that you have absolutely no clue about the genre. Let me guess, you found NW on KZbin through reactions 😂 A band not being symphonic metal genre now doesn’t take away their legacy as one of the first bands in the genre. Genre change doesn’t erase their legacy. Also, not listening to their first album is travesty.
@cecyliamaiden19733 жыл бұрын
She’s got quite a range To hear her belting, I would suggest “just what I need tonight” from series liefde voor muziek. Their song “the promise” is great and can really showcase how her voice changed throughout the years. If you pick Black symphony version, you’ll her her high register. But if you pick one from 2019 (10 years later than Black Symphony) you’ll hear how her voice matured and how she’s actually using a lot of support and “operatic” vocals which sound healthy AF. She’s gained a lot of body to her voice with age which is great. Also, just for funsies, you should listen to “the other half (of me)” from the Black Symphony. It’s a beauty and the beast style. Their first album was heavily doom influenced and has some awesome pieces that, sadly, aren’t well known
@blackmumba1113 жыл бұрын
Sharon’s lower register is really showcased in songs that aren’t with Within Temptation. She has a cover of “Just What I Need” that she did for the show Liefde Voor Muziek that really showcases her belting power. Within Temptation’s early material (Their albums Enter up through The Heart of Everything) really kept Sharon in this higher register for the majority of the songs. Low note highlights from this era include: Dark Wings (she can’t do it live, though), some would argue for Caged, The Promise (has a HUGE range), Deceiver of Fools (though most of her low notes are in the backing vocals), Somewhere (she shows a huge range in this one, too, but I’d actually recommend the album version for that more than the live recording that’s more popular), The Howling, All I Need, and Frozen (the last two are ballads, and they are written lower than the usual high notes of their other work). Following The Heart of Everything, the band was more willing to utilize Sharon’s belting range more than keeping her in her head voice all the time. The Unforgiving has many songs that showcase Sharon’s belts like A Demon’s Fate (again, her ability to do it live is questionable), Iron, A Shot in the Dark, and some would argue Faster (I’m not a fan of the song, personally). It also has ballads that let her explore more of her lower range like Fire and Ice, Where is the Edge, Lost (probably my personal favorite of this group of ballads), and Stairway to the Skies. Hydra’s best song is Edge of the World (a ballad with both high and low elements), but many would argue that Paradise is the best (it includes Tarja, and I think that’s the main reason people like it…however, I prefer the live versions where Sharon sings the song solo), Dog Days is a fantastically composed low ballad with frightfully uncreative lyrics, and Silver Moonlight and Tell Me Why are the two rock heavy-hitters where she showcases her belt. Their most recent album, Resist, has a lot of electronic elements, and there is a noticeable electronic manipulation of Sharon’s voice that wasn’t present until the band started covering other artists (their covers of Somebody that I Used to Know, Summertime Sadness, and Paradise by Coldplay are amazing among others). In this album, she does exhibit some low and almost growling tones (for her), but then best song for low notes on the album is the Delta blues-inspired Firelight. Endless War, The Reckoning, and Raise Your Banner are all rock power songs where she does belt. Shew released a solo project with a different set of musicians called “My Indigo” that really explores her range and musical inspirations in more detail. It’s a. Wonderful showcase of her voice as an album. The Purge and Shed My Skin, their most recent singles, are both heavier and she exhibits low, breathy singing with even some growl at points. Entertain You, another recent single, sounds nothing like a Within Temptation song, but it is enjoyable. It isn’t particularly low or high. (Sorry I wrote a novel…favorite band and favorite singer)

In the video, the band members are “avenging angels,” and Sharon was bait for the serial killer. The angels used the guilt he felt and the spirits of his victims (which he led them to to bury her) to defeat him. The ending of the video, I believe, is the Angels taking pictures of their next serial killer/rapist/bad guy target not someone taking pictures of them. I could be wrong, though.

Just stumbled across your channel again, going down memory lane as I stopped listening to bands like Within Temptation and Epica a while back. Just fell off for some reason. However, one of MY favorites, whom I think is WAY underrated, is TRISTANIA! The female vocals of Vibeke Stene are equally beautiful IMO and I love their harsh and clean male vocals as well. Tristania isn't solely a female fronted band, in fact the male vocals kind of take the forefront but there is a beautiful mix of all 3 vocal types in most of their songs and equally balanced I'd say. Check out My Lost Lemore, ...Of Ruins And A Red Nightfall, Angina, Tender Trip On Earth, Lethean River, Aphelion or Beyond The veil. You won't be disappointed. I would recommend just listening to the songs and not any live performances as the sound quality is just gonna be way better. I honestly like Tristania better than Epica, and Within Temptation and make no mistake, they are all in my current playlist as well and equally amazing in their own ways! There's just something about Tristania that hits me differently. Widows Weeds, Beyond The Veil, and World of Glass are my favorite albums by Tristania, by far! Please check Tristania out if you haven't heard of them. Sorry for the long text, and I hope to see you react to them!!
