The band is Bob Luman & the Shadows, performing on the tv show "Louisiana Hayride" in 1956. The guy on the smokin' electric guitar is the famous James Burton, who went on to play with Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, & other artists, & influenced many 60's rock guitarists.

Indeed, from Carnival Rock," 1957. From Bob Luman website: In 1957, James was working on the Louisiana Hayride, a very well known radio show at the time. There he met Bob Luman. The band was called 'The Shadows' and consisted of James Burton on lead guitar, James Kirkland on bass and Butch White on drums. Together with Luman, they made a movie in Hollywood, "Carnival Rock." It was in Hollywood where Ricky Nelson first heard them rehearse and decided to hire them for his own band.

I know I would have been happy but then again I would miss the little things like tampons and good hair color and sharing a bed and bread makers. I do love all other things in that era aswell though, enjoy your day.

Bill Haley's accordion player Johnny Grande is one of my idols, but they were from Pennsylvania, weren't they? Maybe they wished they were from Texas. Funny world.

To Flatfoot Johnny, the dancer in question is Gil Brady, still alive and occassionally teaching lindy hop. I think he lives in Vegas.

Its a 1950's low budget film and the music had just been invented of course the timings off...probably recorded in one take....but its recorded live, more than some artists can do today and who's the idoit comparing anything from the 50's to modern jive...man that sucks
