Yes her caring of Estelle did show on stage. And Nedra hit the nail right on the head when she said fame can be good but also very bad. Her and Ronnie were lucky to have met good men. Estelle wasn't so lucky and plus her illness didn't help. I'm happy to see they were inducted into the RARHOF at least Estelle & Nedra got a taste of there fame they once had in the 1960's. God Bless them all.

you may or may not know that Nedra (on the right) has been married to Scott Ross, who has been with CBN ((Christian Broadcasting Network) for many years. I believe they've been married for over 50 years also(!) she is absolutely a committed Christian believer. RIP Ronnie. this was the music I listened to ("Murray the K") from NY as I did my high school homework lying on my bedroom floor. If I only could go back in time, if only for a couple of day.......but heaven will be much, much better. Praise the Lord for that.

Ronnie wasn’t close to Estelle when she was alive. Didn’t help her sister out when she was down and out. As you can see in this video, who’s comforting Estelle…Nedra. Ronnie up there just thinking about herself, even scooted Estelle out the way to the side so she can be seen.

Why all the disrespectful comments about Nedra and her faith? Since when did people become so threatened by Christianity? All she did was thank God. That's what she does. I’m annoyed when my fellow Atheists do that. Most of the musicians that I love are religious and that’s their thing. It shouldn’t matter who or what they worship. What truly matters is the kind of person they are and can they put out a good tune.

stats1233 Im an atheist myself but that is very disrespectful! You should respect people religiones no matter what. But if im gonna be honest god didnt save her. She saved herself from her surgery and she made herself the Woman she is today because of her effort

Random person -_- Your being disrespectful to her religion and her family. When you say “I’m gonna be honest, god didn’t save her. She saved herself.” Your implying that her beliefs don’t exist and she’s happy in the wrong fullness. So like I said your being disrespectful but also hypocritical.

Nedra Tally speech was amazing at the induction ceremony. I loved how she spoke her truth about the good and bad lifestyle in Rock & Roll. I also loved how she said she chose to dedicate her life to our Lord Jesus christ. Something you never hear anyone admitting in a Rock & Roll ceremony, which was incredibly brave of her. Her humble way of talking made her speech even more beautiful, especially the way she looked after Estelle on stage. Due to her fragile way from suffering from Schizophrenia. When I read about Estelle Bennett life and death, it just really broke my heart and really proved how you can be on top one day and hit Rock bottom the next.

So glad all three Ronettes were inducted. They all were together in the beginning and each contributed to the group's success. When all three walked out on stage in the early 60's, they knocked the audience out with their talent and beauty--all dressed alike. They all three were beautiful this night, too. I accept people as they are. Their appearance and their words are all part of their personalities. This was their night and their only chance to say exactly what they wanted. It was wonderful to see all three there together sharing in this prestigious award and saying exactly what each wanted to say. Ronnie, true, had the unique sound and talent, but without her two Ronettes in the background, she very well may have not had the early success or the breaks which she did. History cannot be changed. This was a time for girl groups and the Ronettes, all three, had the look, the moves, and the voices to pull it off with Ronnie singing lead. What a fabulous threesome they were. Ronnie, so talented as she is, still performs with two backup singers at least. Her beautiful voice sounds even better with backup support. The Ronettes: the greatest girl group, ever.

I couldn't agree with you more. All three won a lawsuit against Phil Spector for $2.3 million in 2000 which I'm sure really helped Estelle Bennett the most because she really went through some hard times in her life. Even as far as becoming homeless and suffering from schizophrenia, she was found dead in her home in Englewood, NJ in 2011. So now Ronnie is with her sister Estelle now. May they both be resting in peace.❤️

A great ceremony with one of the greatest girl groups. Ronnie fantastic , Nedra and the late Estelle. Wonderful to see Estelle was able to attend and enjoy this honor and sadly passed 2 years after. We have to remember Estelle suffered from schizophrenia so much of her hardships were because of this.Years ago the illness was misunderstood by the public . I suspect Ronnie and Nedra and all family members did their best to help Estelle but she is in heaven now. These are 3 great ladies so let us love their music and memories they gave us. Estelle's short speech said it all, and moved me more than Ronnie's five-minute rant. Notice the more enthusiastic applause she received that eclipsed Ronnie's. In my opinion of this group: Ronnie was the frontwoman with the great voice, Nedra was the beauty that everyone fell head over heels for, and Estelle was the heart and soul of the group that held it all together. Rest easy, Estelle!!!

Alright you got me there. I thought maybe her speech was too long and not from the heart. It looked like it was written for her. The Ronettes was before my time. I was in born in late 1970's actually 1979 . I heard some of the songs but never knew who sang them. I love their music and appreciate it more. I'm sorry to hear about Estelle what she had to go through such a terrible ordeal - cancer and mental illness. ,- my brother has it. If you dont have family around them they will wonder?

Estelle Bennett's story really broke my heart when I read about it. Dealing with Schizophrenia and becoming homeless after you were famous and toured the world. That will make just about anyone go crazy. I'm at least happy she had the Rock & Roll induction ceremony to help remind her people still loved her and her group members. There are some solo songs on KZbin of Estelle Bennett, and she has a beautiful voice. Sad her solo career never took off. May Estelle & Ronnie both RIP!!!

I was in the USAF stationed in Minot, North Dakota, from 1963-1967, and believe it or not a traveling show of stars dropped by on their way to the west coast (or the east coast?) and being from New Jersey I had to go. It was downtown (small town) and the place was packed primarily with guys from the base. When the Ronettes came on stage, Ronnie was so right, the place went crazy. There were other acts and I have no idea who they were. All I remember is the Ronettes came to Minot, ND, to sing for us and that memory will be with me till my last day.

What a beautiful video. So glad I saw this!! But it's heartbreaking seeing Estelle. I mean it's really really great that the Ronettes were given this award while she was still alive - it would've meant the world to her! But it's still so so sad seeing Estelle here - especially knowing about what she went through and how tragic her life was post-Ronettes. And the way she spoke made me feel even more sad - even with all that fame & adulation, Estelle was still timid, shy & unassuming, still hiding in her sister's shadow(?) ..almost like she didn't even think ppl would want to hear her speak. Poor Estelle - she seems like such a sweet, gentle person - really wish she didn't have to go through so much pain and hell. RIP Estelle, beautiful soul, unforgettable artist. I hope you know how much you have impacted so many people in this world.

@@MauriceRivers415 While surfing around I came across some extracts from a book by Clay Cole. He mentions that, in her later years, Estelle would leave her apartment in Englewood, notwithstanding her ill health, and sing in the choir at a church in Haarlem, where she also volunteered in the soup kitchen. Doesn't that tell you a lot about the beauty of her soul? Also, grateful thanks are due to Toyin Dong, a wonderful daughter to Estelle. RIP Estelle and now Ronnie. Blessings on Nedra.

In Ronnie's book she writes of Nedra being against her for sexy performances, etc. Funny, she didn't object to how it helped all three members of the group get bookings. Ronnie has a unique voice but everyone knows Phil wanted to dump the other two Ronettes and often used any back up singers for the recordings. Since they were related Ronnie's mother put pressure on Ronnie to insist Estelle and Nedra stay in the group

The ronettes is one of my favorite girl groups. But Ronnie was always about Ronnie, self-centered, stuck-up. Ronnie should think would she had made it alone without her sister and cousin? David Ruffin thought he was The Temptations, until he got kicked out. The group went on successfully after him and he didn’t have a very successful solo career. Ronnie been singing Be My Baby for over 40 years. Outside The Ronettes who would know her? Phil may have been a monster but Ronnie was no angel herself. She married Phil hoping he would make her a superstar like berry Gordy did for Diana Ross, but he didn’t. Ronnie had a self-hatred for being part black, though that soul and rhythm is what gave her her voice and style and special look. The true beauties of the group was Estelle and Nedra. Nedra gave the most heartfelt, coherent speech. It’s good she left the business early or she would’ve looked haggard very young like Ronnie aged young or been on drugs and alcohol. The most telling thing of this clip, is how Ronnie could careless about her sister. She never did care or help her out in life. Couldn’t even pretend to comfort or support her during this special event. Nedra showed care cause she knew (like Ronnie did) what Estelle went through, was going through and it was hard for her to be on that stage. Ronnie hasn’t matured at all, still stuck in the 60s, mind and style. Your can sing your 60s song but update your style. The big, high hair makes her look older now. Nedra and Estelle actually looked normal and still attractive.
