The utmost respect to Mr. Feherty. Battling through adversity, the desire to give some hope to the young men and women of the armed forces, and the desire to become an American citizen. Extraordinary. And while I've heard the story about Tom speaking to him about his problem (it is discussed on the Golf chennel interview with Mr. Watson, and is great), it chokes me up to hear him tell it. Bravo, sir.

I can relate so much to Feherty's story. Not because i was ever a successful tour player or broadcaster, but because i was also a 4hdcp assistant golf pro at one time. The only difference is that I was a +2 when I took the job and I was a 4 when I left it, because I worked so many hours I never had time to play golf. On a side note I did get back to scratch not too long after I got out of the golf business. Oh yeah I am also an alcoholic/addict and have been diagnosed with BPD (borderline personality disorder), which shares some of the same characteristics as bi-polar. I was mostly an alcoholic but I had a nasty Vicoden habit for about 2 years after having major surgery. I was supposed to take them for 7 days after the surgery but when I combined them with alcohol I thought I had found nirvana. Turns out I had found hell instead. I just celebrated 7 years of being clean and sober last week. Great interview...I could listen to Feherty (and/or McCord) talk for hours

It is also a fantastic testament to Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson helping a peer who had a problem.

When you first mentioned getting hit on your bike it made me think of the guy from European Vacation. But when you said you hoped it wasn't a beer truck, I bust out laughing. Congratulations on having such an amazing wife.

Feherty is a breath of fresh air. I stumbled on him three years ago surfing through channels in a motel room. I'm amazed that he doesn't show the wear and tear of being a former drinker. He's a great interviewer and I miss hearing him announce on the tour. Interesting what he said about the players really don't look like they're enjoying themselves. I began to see that in Phil Mickelson. I wonder what he would say about the galleries these days compared to the past ones. I think they are getting so obnoxious.

I'm not a big fan of Dave but certainly agree he's a talented guy-was a pretty darn good player too. However, this interview is tremendous and makes me like him a lot more.
