Great review per usual! I cant unsee the whacky proportions on this, arms too long or crotch is too high or torso too small dunno but seems off.

It doesn’t feel like they’re stagnating. But it does feel stale when they refuse to improve on the 2.0 body molds, transition into 3.0 (with a base vegeta and goku), and refuse to update the ankles on vegeta. It’s like all these things are right there. They have the engineering and design already done on other figures but it’s like we’re going back and forth. For every new 3.0 (trunks, kuririn, LSSJ Goku, and gohan) it’s like they release like 6 more 2.0 updated designs and are just becoming extremely lazy with it. With that SSGSS vegeta the only thing new is the headsculpt. Like idk it’s just fatigue at this point. Feels like one step forward, two steps back. And yes it’s a pain to be like oh they’re not being innovative enough but they should’ve moved on already. And i understand they’re a company they want to make money and those 2.0 releases are how they fund the next figure but it feels like they’re just tweaking a few things and releasing it all the time. The 24,000 vegeta feels great because the torso is wider and the faceplates and headsculpt is honestly immaculate and i think the shoulder pad design is fine. The rest of it is reuse. Like the shoulders on the arms should’ve been smaller to allow for more range and a more accurate look. They look like boulders. And that’s ok for super vegeta but not really the best for namek vegeta

It’s also annoying when you know a company isn’t trying as much as they could when they have really great figures that already knock it out of the park. The old battle clothes vegeta they announced is very underwhelming because of this. They just did 24,000 vegeta without shoulder pads and the photos do not do that figure justice. The expressions and headsculpt is cool but like the legs and arms are still the same and the proportions don’t match with the look from the manga or the anime. Like idk. It’s just annoying. The 2.0’s are great it’s just been years already so it’s time to put them to bed and make better figures with better proportions and likeness. But it feels like we’re going at a glacial pace with the occasional drop of 3.0 greatness

The GT line is honestly doing the best right now surprisingly to me. All the designs are great and simple with a focus on better proportions and details. Some of that is lacking on the DBZ line and i miss when they released og DB figures too like they completely dropped that. Except for the rerelease of Bulma and the bike which is a great release tbh. They just need to try more. Sorry for the yapfest

Very good points raised and I agree that the GT subline has been nailing it so far. I think it helps that all the GT releases are 100% brand new. I also agree with you about the current releases being a bit annoying... since we know they have the designs, updated parts which are in use else where but they do not seem to bring them all together. At least for me, the Db releases often feel like they are "just good enough" when they could easy hit the "above and beyond" level of release. For this Vegeta, changeable chest plate for more upper body articulation, updated ankles/legs would of taken this release to a top spot for 2024. I am sure budget is the biggest restraining point and each collector will be different, but with the way prices are now I would rather pay more for a "complete" release instead of mediocre.

⁠⁠@@Rockchala_YTI completely agree, that’s part of the reason why it’s felt so stale lately. They all just feel “good enough”. I still think the line is still great so far but there’s just some choices being made that are questionable to say the least. They would make a lot of profit if they made more definitive figures and spent more time on the design instead of recycling parts. I would be willing to pay more as well but I also want that price to reflected on the articulation, paint, finish, and accessories. And the prices are ever increasing as well so they have less of an excuse not to give us more bang for our buck. Mecha Frieza is another example of a pretty good figure. And we’ll see about Full Power Frieza in September. I’m excited for your reviews!!! And I always look forward to watching them. Thank you for the chat!

DB line is still innovating, but 2.0 Goku and Vegeta are making it stale. Old battle armor is my favorite Vegeta suit, but I'm very disappointed by that figure. Alt expressions are great, but I can't get excited when the body looks horrendously off model. I'd be less critical if it wasn't pbandai, but I expect more accurate, unique tooling from there. If they're going to inappropriately reuse 2.0, it should be a budget release.

Yeah I agree, cheap budget releases I understand but for new releases, and especially ones at a higher price point I expect more from them. At least the DB line is now getting better expressions!
