This is great because now I only have about 9,900 hours to go, which is nice!

I think having some natural ability or aptitude for music is a factor in how far one can progress. Also, I think people who start practicing as children are more likely to achieve mastery. I’m not sure how much aptitude I have, and I started 2 years ago at the age of 44, but I believe the points made in this video about becoming the best version of yourself are important for everyone. I live abroad and have had difficulty finding teachers. Has anyone here had success taking online classes?

I started in my mid 40s on Rockclass101, all online lessons. I'm not a pro, but I've learned so much and gotten so much better with this site. Definitely worth checking out.

I started in my mid 30s, and I've never had an in-person lesson, apart from piano lessons as a kid. I flitted around a bit between KZbin teachers and sites at first, but these days I just subscribe to RC101. I know some people need the accountability of regular in-person lessons, but I prefer being able to work at my own pace. I may not be a "master" but I can do enough to be happy with my playing.

I've never played a musical instrument until my mid 60s. I chose to learn how to play the ukulele and wound up at Rockclass 101 and have never looked back. Take all the instructions, starting with the beginner lesson series. Don't rush it and have fun learning. Rockclass 101 has everything you will ever need to be the best you can be.

Hi Eddie to answer your question - yes! I've been part of Rockclass101 for some years now, and I have found it a very helpful online class. Teachers give feedback on everything I post and on any questions I ask; as do other students. There are monthly challenges you can participate in if you choose - set at levels from beginner to advanced, and I actually learn a lot from others' posts and teacher comments as well as from my own (I do most and at least one thing that has greatly improved is my timing). There are a number of teachers and a range of arrangements which means there is a variety of genres and styles on the site. I haven't yet, but you can even have one on one zoom lessons. I'm a big fan of RC101
