I've suggested this in the past but, Sophie, who produced Yeah Right and SAMO, is an artist I would highly reccomend you to listen to. I think it'd be a bit out of your comfort zone, but while she was alive, she made some of the coolest experimental pop music. It's like pop music absurdism almost. Deconstructing mainstream pop in a very unique way. Most, if not all, of the sounds in her songs are created by her... Like she would literally record each individual instrument through very strange methods, and the sound design is absolutely insane. Now that you've gotten a taste of her music, I would love to see you react to PRODUCT, which was her debut project. There is no thing that sounds like it. Very strange textures that will tickle your ears lol

Love your response to the Yeah Right bass hahah, SOPHIE once said something among the lines of attempting to create instrumentals that sound like a single morphing object instead of different layers of instrumentation, which imo was really inspiring. I remember being disenchanted with hip hop in the mid 2010s after seeing acts like Blu, K.r.i.t., Cunninlynguist kinda never getting there shine, and just going through my own journey as an artist at the time who wasn't really able to make the music I wanted to make because at the lower levels in big cities, it's hard to separate the art from the hustle. Staples was that dude that brought me back to it as the first rapper my age I really messed with. As a dude he just reminded me a lot of my cousins, and the music was honest, imperfect, and moody. It was a lot of what I wanted to make honestly. Found that a lot of rappers in that generation had a similar aesthetic, and was reminded that Hip hop doesn't die, it evolves. For that I'll always have a soft spot for Vince. Glad you enjoyed it, and r.i.p. Slurpy.

This album is so good, nice that you enjoyed it as well. R.I.P. Slurpy btw On a sidenote since Vince referenced E-40 on one song I'ma use this comment as campaign for a E-40 reaction. I think it'd be dope to check out in order to add some variety E-40 is a west coast rapper from the bay area and is a legend. He has a unique rapping style (which might get a lil while to get used to) and if I'm not mistaken his earlier sound (instrumentals) is referred as mobb music which I'd say is like "rider music" (not in sound but think of OutKast's first album in a sense of it's just some fun rapping with clever wordplay here and there and it has you vibing) I think the first project you should check out from him is "In A Major Way" but if you want something shorter I also strongly recommend his "The Mail Man" EP which was his breakout project, if I'm not mistaken. On Spotify there's 2 versions of the EP (one as it came out originally and the other one is the version that was re-released after he got a distribution deal, correct me if I'm wrong) and they're basically the same with the only difference being is that one has an extra track called "Ballin' Outta Control" (which was released on the re-release of the EP) Anyway, this comment is long af and if you've read it til the end, I appreciate you. Take care

I commented this on your Patreon but also wanted to show the KZbin channel some love. Have a wonderful and positive weekend everyone! WAY off topic, but since you mentioned it in the reaction I just had to agree. The Amy Winehouse story is one of the most tragic, sad, but equally angering deaths in all of entertainment. Her music was so beyond timeless and it truly is a shame. But how the record execs didn't give af about her mental health, and her addiction, and made her do shows when she was completely wasted out of her mind is so messed up. And that's not even nearly all of it. Her music will absolutely last forever though. That voice will never go out of style. A random fact. Mac Miller was a huge part of his early success. He would hang out at Mac's house with Tyler the Creator, Earl, and the whole crew. They always tried to get Vince to rap but he just wouldn't. But then Mac made a bunch of beats for him, told him they are for free, to start making some songs, and sort of jump-started his career at that time. Also took him on tour so he could get used to how they go and stuff. Pretty sure Tyler's first big tour was with Mac as well. I could be wrong, but I do know it was early in Tyler's career. Also, if you haven't, you should absolutely check out Vince Stapes in The Cave episode. Dude it's actually one of the funniest people I have seen. He has such quick and smart wit, that is rare to find in many people.

Agree with all these but def 50 Cent GRODT because it's one of the essential and one of the most iconic hiphop albums of all time + it recently was the 20th anniversary of the album I think in a video not too long ago (can't remember which) he said that he has already listened to Eminem prior to making the channel and that he has already listened to Em's first 5 albums. He did consider doing a relisten/revisit tho
