@@xXRedBuLL13Xx You probably used too much tape or didn't wrap it tight enough. And, yeah the taped part more me takes almost as long at the rest of the cable. If the tape is kind of fat in the paracord and you're having trouble moving the cord over the tape try twisting the paracord one way then the opposite way as you pull it across the tape. I realize this comment is 10 months long and this likely won't help you but, I ran into this exact problem today so, I figured I'd give an answer.

Hey Rocker! Thanks in part to your videos, I've started my own modding journey. I wanted to share something that I found while sleeving my own paracord the other day. Instead of using packing tape, I took all six pins and put them into the cut off end of a small pipette. It made it easier to get the paracord on to cable initially and made the process really smooth and strain free. Thanks for setting me on the right path initially!
@RockerGaming3 жыл бұрын
Dude thats awesome! Can you please link me to the pipette? I'd like to check it out!! Cheers!
@cerenar.3 жыл бұрын
So I'm afraid I have some bad news. It's not possible to get the pipettes that I've been supplied with unless you know someone in veterinary medicine. :/ My mom happens to work for a vet, and they got passed on to me. I tried calling the supply company, but it was no dice to order the pipettes individually. The best I can do is tell you that their diameter through the middle is 0.25", their length is 3.5", and they hold 0.5 mL of liquid. I may try experimenting with some other options off of Amazon to try to find a more permanent solution in the future, but here's the link of what I think will work best if you feel bold enough to try your luck first. Link: www.amazon.com/Disposable-Transfer-Droppers-Volumetric-Essential/dp/B07SKV7ZJD/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=1ml+pipette&qid=1616719943&sr=8-3

Followed your vid to paracord the OldSkool gamecube controller as a fun project, the inner cable on that controller isn't shielded and has the 6 smaller cables inside of it instead. Was a real pain figuring out how to de-sleeve until I realized that you can just snip the sleeve and grab all 6 cables and pull them thru the sleeve almost as if you were using the 6 cables to cut it along a seam. Once that was done, getting the paracord on wasn't too bad, I thought the packing tape was a solid recommendation. I also soldered the paracorded cable back onto the controller before putting the plug back on the jack lol Other than that, pretty cool project and a big THANK YOU for this vid to help me thru it!

There is a much easier way to sleeve the cord. You can use the white string inside the paracord as a pull system. Taping the white string to the cord. At the places where you snip off the copper and glued, did you tape those areas as well to make sure they didn't snag?
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
I didnt. The super glue holds it in place pretty well and there wasn't a need to tape
@dylanvang59395 жыл бұрын
@@RockerGaming alright, one more question. I'm having a hard time trying to get the paracord pass the tapped area. Any tips?
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
@@dylanvang5939 Yeah I have a few. I would bend the wire which shifts the location of the pins and makes it easier to pass as its not as thick. Or if that doesnt work.... cut the pins off all together and solder the wire back to the controller pcb directly. The second method is more draconian, but works very well if its a personal controller

@@RockerGaming one more question, is it normal to be getting blisters when feeding the paracord through? I manage to get the paracord over the tapped area but my fingers are starting to develop blisters from it.

Thanks a ton for this guide! If you do happen to cut some of the copper shielding are there any concerns aside from making it hard to put the paracord on? How would you remedy this?
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
No problem thanks for checking it out! I would use the super glue as I showed in the video. Worst case you can always just cut it off. I have sleeved many controllers without the copper shield and have not had issues.

Hey @RockerGaming can I do this mod with a lighter instead of a solder or a hair dryer for that matter

Does this work with the new realeased gamecube controllers for the switch?

Does any soldering kit work? I bought a soldering kit on Amazon for $16 and it can be between 200-400 degrees Celsius, and what do you use to resolder it, simple solder wire?

Hi good job. Where did you buy the buttons
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
Frank, much appreciated! The buttons come from ebay, if you search for "gamecube buttons" you can find them, they come in a host of colors and work pretty well! Also, SUPER cheap, less than $5 per set!!

Cant seem to get the plug off at all for multiple controllers, despite using a heatgun and it being at almost melting point. Any advice?
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
Joseph, do you know what temp your heatgun is set for? I would also try another controller to see if you might just have one that is extremely stubborn.
@Chamaquito12345 жыл бұрын
When taping together the wires so that you can sleeve them you use tape. Would it matter if I use a small piece of heat shrink instead? since I have alot of trouble taping the thing down.
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
The problem with heat shrink is it doesnt slide well once in the paracord and you risk pulling it off the wires. Unfortunately I learned this lesson the hard way lol
@Chamaquito12345 жыл бұрын
@@RockerGaming thanks for the reply, I just hate doing the tape method. I'm just so bad at getting that rocket tip.
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
@@Chamaquito1234 I dont disagree with you, its not that easy. Other thought would be to cut all the pins off and just direct solder the wires to the pcb. I have used that method many times and it works well!

Might be a bit late but hopefully you'll see this: I did the whole process and physically the cables look great! However my controller now has random input drops, inputs that I never put in, and sometimes just wont connect. Any chance you might know what's going on? Thanks!

I think I might have messed my board up it seems there a bit of brown where there Cord should be solder and when I plugged it in to my GameCube it would turn off.Its in right but I think that that's the boards fault

For the paracord should we get the 10ft or 25ft length
@RockerGaming5 жыл бұрын
I always recommend 25. It's a bit more $ but it affords you the ability to make mistakes without having to order more

You know I dont know the size I bought off hand but 550 paracord is 5/32" so something slightly bigger than that.

Hey there, I just installed the paracord and it looks sick! However, when I tap jump (ssbm) I do an aerial to the right. Do you know what could be causing this? Didn’t notice it before the mod
