I heard that there is a class action lawsuit against Rocket because the R Nine One boilers have been exploding. Do you know if there is truth to this?
@bertraminc94122 жыл бұрын
Sure! I've been told by a major seller here in the USA that they are not selling this Rocket R Nine any more becuase it wasn't "doing what we expected it to do"... They would not give me specifics. Do you have any feedback like that about this unit. It is number one on my list right now and I don't want to find out after I buy it that these features don't' really work. Also, where do you get those wonderful red espresso cups! I found the tamper! Compiling my shopping list for next years big purchase! Thanks guys!

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Rocket R NINE ONE, but at the last minute went for the DECENT Espresso machine which is entirely tablet controlled & fully programmable. The flexibility of the ROCKET R NINE ONE is impressive, but the DECENT Espresso takes it to a whole new level. I'm not knocking the ROCKET R NINE ONE at all, it's absolutely magnificent & gorgeous, the build quality & parts selection is top level. The inclusion of an expensive gear pump not only makes it quiet, but it's purpose-built to accomodate pressure profiling, which is something that the DECENT Espresso lacks. The ROCKET R NINE ONE is the better choice if people are intimidated by technology, in fact I found your demonstration to be pleasantly straight forward, especially after living with the DECENT Espresso machine for a couple of months now.

Two very different machines chasing similar outcomes. Do love what Decent have developed, yet for me I like subtle technology and the presence the Rocket has. If I get my hands on a Decent again will do a review and comparison with the Rocket.

Great video! Can you overwrite each of the 5 profiles with a manual profile? Or is there only 1 profile that is able to have the manual profile superimposed onto it?
@xx0samey0xx Жыл бұрын
Interesting machine! Just one question, does it do pressure profiling in 5 stages only or is there a way to replicate continuous lever profile with decreasing pressure over time? Something like the decent I mean

Great review guys. This is an amazing machine. I am curious how the pump pressure system is different from the flow control systems provided by GS3/MP and DC Mina. Controlling only the pressure doesn't give you flow control. flow is = the amount of water you pass through the coffee. pressure and debit are not directly related. Curios if someone has a detailed comparison on these 2 systems.

I don't have an R Nine One, or work for any espresso company, but I can shed a bit of light. Pressure Profiling machines like the RNO, ACS Vetruvious, and (one of) Vibiemme machines take the pressure reading right at the end of the pump, prior to to water journeying onwards towards the grouphead. Say a low bar pressure is engaged on the pump, since the pump has a constant orifice size, at a specific bar pressure the water flow out of the pump will be constant. I don't have a pressure profile machine so I don't know what the water flow (ml/s) would be at say 1bar, with whatever orifice size is used in the RNO. Let's imagine at 1bar, for the RNO, the water flow rate is 1.7ml/s of water trickling through the piping from the pump to the grouphead. The water flow would be constant, even when if the puck where to choke the water flow. The water flow would first fill the volume of tubing between the pump and the grouphead, then eventually blead out the OPV valvel, if the puck didn't allow water to flow through. The GS3 Flow Profiling uses a diverter valve. At full flow rate, all the water is going to the grouphead. If you want to lessen the amount of water going to the group head, turning the paddle would allow some water to be diverted to the drip tray, allowing less water to go to the grouphead. The Mina uses what they call an iris valve, very similar to a camera lens iris controling the amount of light through the lens. At full water flow, the iris is full open. If you want less water to go to the grouphead, the iris size is made smaller, allowing less water to flow to the grouphead.

How different is this machine to something like a ECM syncronika with flow control?
@baristaman_brews2 жыл бұрын
With the added screen and computerized control, you can be a lot more accurate with your profiles. It gives you digital feedback on what's happening with the shot.
@CoffeePartsTV2 жыл бұрын
The ECM would be more similar to the GS3MP in terms of flow control. The Rocket is a proper pressure profiling machine, and more replicable between shots. In saying that, in many cases flow control is all you need.
@RegrinderAlert2 жыл бұрын
@@CoffeePartsTV The GS3-MP uses a conical valve which essentially pushes water that would create excess pressure into the drip tray. It’s a pressure-profiler at core that also has no option to really control the flow rate. Flow profilers like E61 give you more control. They can do everything that pressure profilers can and more.

Why didn’t you demonstrate the volumetric limits that the machine also has? Or am I misunderstanding something?

A question that I have is if you would suggest this machine in a small bakery in order to run maximum 55-60 espressos (double ones 19-21 grams) per day. If not , what machinery would be the right one for our case

02:36 according to the parts list the R9 one uses an ordinary Fluidotech rotary pumphead with an 180W 24V(so its DC) Motor attached. Seems llike the pressure profiling is handled via this, as Rocket calls it, "servomotor".

I have had a GS3 MP and was really frustrated with it. Zero consistency. I sold it then bought the GS3 AV. Super consistent. Now bored with it. I have always wanted a R9 One. Looks lovely and very flexible but was put off after talking to so many “experts” regarding its reliability. My AV is now up for sale and the Helios RSB chrome grinder.
@CoffeePartsTV2 жыл бұрын
Nice collection you have had! The MP can be hard in the sense you need to manually do it every time, yet it should be quite easy to get a feel for it and be somewhat replicable. AV is simple, really made for offices and coffee carts, to just pump out coffees. R9 One, does have more tech than the MP/AV so in a sense more to go wrong, yet we have had very few issues with the Rocket brand and next to no issues with the R9 One, so kind of hard to comment. If where you are located, the importers or retailers are solid companies then I would not be too worried. If in Australia then of course we can help you out :)

I’ve heard and read about feedback delays with the screen and delays in the flow rate actually changing as you Adjust the lever. Any experience or thoughts on that?
@michaelrobinson96432 жыл бұрын
I'm interested in this. It would be likely be a firmware issue as the hardware can manage the role (or hardware if Rocket started sourcing different parts due to COVID shortages and chose something out of their design spec) Tracking such an issue across manufacturing dates would help too but I don't know if Rocket are really transparent about such things. I'm about to receive an R9 One... I haven't checked if the machine is firmware upgradable. Hopefully it is!

Not really, prima can't even do pressure profiling. E1 prima is gorgeous, really, but it's not on the same level as r nine one, gs3, slayer, synesso mvp hydra, etc.. I think E1 prima is on the same level w/ LMLM, ECM Synchronika / Profitec Pro 700, R Cinquantotto.
