The fact that a 15+ year old full bagger set to tour across the country with a extra large windscreen, speakers and a fricking cup holder was even considered close to the performance of a stripped down newish muscle cruiser with 35% more displacement should tell you exactly how amazing the Valkyrie was, and still is.

Valkarie GL 1500 is not the fastest in this current day it hasn't been made since 2003. Motorcycle makers have had plenty of time to make bikes as fast or faster...R3, M109, Kawasaki 2000, Stratoliner 1900. Valkarie offers speed, comfort, reliability and confidence of knowing u are driving a bad ass machine no matter what bike comes out.

@@LFLFG The Valkyrie is a great all around bike. The Rocket beats it hands down in torque and horsepower, I like the handling of the Valkyrie better. I also prefer the Valkyrie for long rides, its a more comfort bike for me, plus the reliability has been unbelievable over the years. My Rocket is supercharged and has a Carpenter Racing exhaust on it, which gets extremely hot, so I only ride it locally.

@@LFLFG I rode a '99 Valkyrie for 10 years, then got a 2011 Rocket, now I have the 2020 Rocket. ALL good bikes! The Valkyrie was butter smooth and handled well for a big bike, but when you twist that throttle on a Rocket you get an instant grin! And the new 2020 handles quite a bit better than the previous versions, so you get the best of both worlds.

I bought a 2000 Valk new in 01. It did the quarter mile at National Trails Raceway in 10.34 sec. My best time. It was a red/black standard with K&N filter, I had drilled out the last set of baffles on the stock pipes, & I had a car tire on the back at that point because I loved pulling wheelies on it. I miss that bike. I'm gonna get a 14 model probably because I don't ever want to deal with 6 carbs- more interested in the fuel injected 1800 version now. I actually only wanted to mention that it has a great power band at higher rpm so the low rpm "race" wasn't fair. Loved hearing that engine again!

I am original owner of a ‘97 Valk with 102,000 miles. Re. Brakes: Valk was rated #1 in shortest distance for several years and remained in top 10 for many years. It was first production bike with over 100hp to have more torque than hp (103). Never a problem with carbs. Little known fact about the Valk and the primary reason I bought it is it’s ability to corner (for a cruiser). The engine is the other main advantage: it’s turbine like power can be as docile as a kitten or an absolute beast.

Brett Gambuzza: yeah, I remember when the Rocket 3 came out with an engine larger than my SAAB 900 and almost the size of my BMW 525I. Amazing! The Valk was my only bike for 20 years. I added a Triumph T100, ‘94 BMW RS and a ‘09 BMW RT. Though I am at the age (67) where smaller and lighter is appreciated, I still love riding the Valk.

You can see the "head shaking" in that Rocket III... Bad front tire? Bad front shock on one side? Bent rim? Low tire pressure? Bad neck bearing? It has a problem that needs to be fixed. I would not ride it like that.... Winner in my opinion? I owned a Valkyrie and rode a Rocket III - VALKYRIE. Sounds better too. Sean, shut that turn signal off!!! Nobody: Me: y’all wanna hear my Valkyrie story? Cool! So I bought a’96 F6c with 13000 original miles for $3200. Original asking price was $8700. It was totally covered with every possible trinket available from Kuryakin, and sported the ugliest paint job featured monsters, naked women, and even a Viking. It also had 6 pipes with no baffling. I watched the price drop week after week, and made my move. Brought it home (30 km trip) and never rode it again. Stripped the bike completely down and bobbed it. That was 5 years ago, still have the bike. I’ll finish it eventually. It only needs tires, battery, throttle tube and grips, and lights.

Also, why the hell does every fucking bike on the planet have to look like a Harley before guys like you will even entertain the idea of riding it? Aren't you tired of the same old shit? Every God damn bike out there looks like it was made in 1960. They all look the same. Ever get questions from non-motorcycle guys about your bike? What's the first thing they always ask? "is that a Harley?" because they can't fucking tell. Fuck man, I can't even tell half the time. At least honda has the balls to try something different in 2014. Gotta respect them for that. And if I was the kind of guy who bought things based on looks, I would have bought that 2014 valkyrie instead of the old one because the new one looks fucking awesome instead of like just another Harley clone. But I'm not that kind of guy, so I bought the new valkyrie based on important shit, like comfort, longevity, performance, ease of maintenance, etc. And let me tell you, it's a God damn amazing bike to ride.

you can always make a bigger bike. try comparing the rocket to a bosshoss with 350hk and 550Nm at 3500rpms... its is the way it delivers and the sound of the engine, that matters to me. of course it has to be big and strong enough to chill me. the rocket doesnt appeal to me, the bosshoss neither - but the valkyrie is soo smooth. i have been thinking of that motor for the last 10 years now, wanting a stripped 1000gl. then i discovers the valkyrie! the best bike ever...

So, motorcycle retailer finds front end wobble in big bike, and wonders if the tyre pressures are to blame. Furthermore, if I follow your adolescent babble correctly, you've had a 'kid' test ride said bike, and he wants to ride it again with his partner. For starters, you should never be in doubt about tyre pressures, it's beginner level maintenance. If you did check, you'd be pulling over to find the possible cause of low tyre pressure. If you're letting the bike out for test rides with uncertain tyre pressures, you have now disclosed it to the world, and exposed yourself to certain litigation should a customer come to grief. I have remarked on your choice of riding gear elsewhere in this thread. If things ever bite you because of inappropriate gear, or lax maintenance, it won't be Jesus that saves you, it will be sheer dumb luck.

The Valkyrie is my favourite bike ever built. Nothing will ever come close to it, from my perspective. My dad has had two Valkyries and one Valkyrie Interstate, and there is nothing like them.

@@jetstream454 No, it has to do with cylinder filling and volumetric efficiency. They probably increase the power at high RPM but when cylinder pressures are high it hurts, so drive-ability suffers...

@coreyschmidt1647
@coreyschmidt1647 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly, and 100 rwhp and 106 Ft-lb's torque as advertised(valkyrie) don't touch the 118 rwhp and 162 Ft-lb's torque that my 8 year old rocket put down at the dyno yesterday. The Valkyrie is a beautifully smooth running bike, but it doesn't produce the brutal torque numbers the rocket does.

Ok, comparing the performance of a 1500cc older bike with a 2500cc newer bike. I wonder which one is going to win. After watching this video, I would go with an 1800 cc. Goldwing.

The 1800cc Goldwing is not faster than the Valkyrie 1500cc look it up. It may be more comfortable if that's your point. The Valkyrie has a few more HP.
