The fact that a 15+ year old full bagger set to tour across the country with a extra large windscreen, speakers and a fricking cup holder was even considered close to the performance of a stripped down newish muscle cruiser with 35% more displacement should tell you exactly how amazing the Valkyrie was, and still is.

@@LFLFG The Valkyrie is a great all around bike. The Rocket beats it hands down in torque and horsepower, I like the handling of the Valkyrie better. I also prefer the Valkyrie for long rides, its a more comfort bike for me, plus the reliability has been unbelievable over the years. My Rocket is supercharged and has a Carpenter Racing exhaust on it, which gets extremely hot, so I only ride it locally.

@@LFLFG I rode a '99 Valkyrie for 10 years, then got a 2011 Rocket, now I have the 2020 Rocket. ALL good bikes! I bought a 2000 Valk new in 01. It did the quarter mile at National Trails Raceway in 10.34 sec. My best time. It was a red/black standard with K&N filter, I had drilled out the last set of baffles on the stock pipes, & I had a car tire on the back at that point because I loved pulling wheelies on it. I miss that bike. I'm gonna get a 14 model probably because I don't ever want to deal with 6 carbs- more interested in the fuel injected 1800 version now. I actually only wanted to mention that it has a great power band at higher rpm so the low rpm "race" wasn't fair. Loved hearing that engine again!

I am original owner of a ‘97 Valk with 102,000 miles. Re. Brakes: Valk was rated #1 in shortest distance for several years and remained in top 10 for many years. It was first production bike with over 100hp to have more torque than hp (103). Never a problem with carbs. Little known fact about the Valk and the primary reason I bought it is it’s ability to corner (for a cruiser). The engine is the other main advantage: it’s turbine like power can be as docile as a kitten or an absolute beast.

Nobody: Me: y’all wanna hear my Valkyrie story? Cool! So I bought a’96 F6c with 13000 original miles for $3200. Original asking price was $8700. It was totally covered with every possible trinket available from Kuryakin, and sported the ugliest paint job featured monsters, naked women, and even a Viking. It also had 6 pipes with no baffling. I watched the price drop week after week, and made my move. Brought it home (30 km trip) and never rode it again. Stripped the bike completely down and bobbed it. That was 5 years ago, still have the bike. I’ll finish it eventually. It only needs tires, battery, throttle tube and grips, and lights.
