@@setsyoufree8 aside from that, i've always loved that exchange for it's tone as well. like, at any other point in the films, Tony would be talking way more trash, and Rocket probly would have gone OFF on Tony for that crack. he's not gonna be belittled, he has an ego and a natural propensity toward conflict, and he's not gonna let Tony get in a snarkier jab than him. but at THIS POINT in the story, everyone is feeling as low as they can possibly be, Tony is just looking for something to break the depressing tension, and rocket kinda senses that fact and also just doesn't have the emotional energy to engage, so he's in the mindset of "After that sad display back there, fumbling the ball that hard, and literally losing half the population in an instant, i FEEL about as USELESS as a Build-a-Bear right now, so yeah, maybe i AM...." this is as close to admitting defeat as we see from the "Class clowns", It's clear that the two snarkiest people in the room just don't have anything LEFT in the gas tank emotionally, and are both just sort of "phoning it in".

I think Rocket's so used to people comparing him to their planets' pest animals as an insult, he doesn't even realise that Quill is recognising his actual species and could tell him where he came from. Those scientists probably collected a raccoon from Earth to do their experiment. Endgame could have had a really touching moment if he had looked up footage or data on these animals and realised he'd had a mother and shared a home planet with one of his closest friends.
