First,nice job. That said, I live in the Philippines,where 4in pipe is cut with a hacksaw the handle being a bow shaped piece of rebar. A good job here pays $ 200.00 a month. So fun to watch, like watching guys drift their Porsche, when you dream of owning !50cc Honda

Hi John, thank you for putting this video up. I have been making rocket stoves for the island of Tanna in Vanuatu to assist them recover after a cyclone. I used a different concept from you with the top. I took a second bottle, cut it in half and put in a hole for the riser vent/tube, (like where the bottom of the second bottle would of been to allow the burn tube to go). I secured/welded that half bottle to where you fitted the big circular plate to contain the insulation, then fitted a couple of bars across the top of the cut bottle to support pots. I then cut a chimney vent to the rear side of the top half bottle to vent the waste gasses if a large pot gets used. Would love to have access to the gear you have for sure...

Very nice work. Those HF grinders are hard to beat, they run a long long time for under $20. I'm working on a rocket stove now, thanks for the ideas and help.
@carolsloanes3817 жыл бұрын
How about adding a solid metal trim around the perimeter of the cooking grid, which would serve to direct the flame and all the hear directly towards the underneath and the edge of the cooking vessel. You could also add an air intake pipe alongside the fuel intake feed area, which would allow you shut off part of the fuel intake area, giving you a more rocket type draw and better control of the flame/burn. Yours was a Very interesting project to see in the making. Nice one John.

@rhinomite52036 жыл бұрын
I know the video is about 5 years old, but anyone wanting to make videos of themselves making things, refer to this. Just make what your making, use a tripod or something stable, speed it up, and then talk very little until you show how it works. Great job
@EduForLife7 жыл бұрын
That one look so great! I am sure it makes its function perfectly. It has just one combustion camera, it releases the gases from first combustion directly to open air. A proper rocket one has a second combustion camera where to burn the gases from the first combustion. The gases realesed are minimum and colorless. I wouldn't call that nice stove a Rocket one. Just a stove. You work so well. Check how a proper rocket is you'll love it too.

Very Well constructed, it might help on your next design is to put the feed tube a little or on a 45 degree angle so that the wood you burn will feed it self into the burn chamber

I love your designs and that you share youar proto types and discuss how you might improve next time. I thought Id share thought on adding water to plasma table. if there is water ontop of work piece this can change torch pierce hight. Kind Regards Blake
@JohnHarmon5 жыл бұрын
My torch touches off of a hard surface, so my pierce height is based off of that. With or without water in the table it wouldn't make a difference. As the torch cuts it senses voltage and adjusts to keep the voltage at a certain number (to maintain torch height). That too doesn't appear to be effected by water in the table

Great job, that stove looks good. Just a suggestion maybe you could add sand or small gravel in the tank for insulation and add weight to the stove and also rather than welding those nuts to the top plate you could weld a ring made from round stock on the top plate to act as a rail/guard preventing the nuts that's welded to the grate from sliding off the top (this will make the stove easy to light and clean because the grate is removable)
@russellroberson86516 жыл бұрын

Nice job. Very cool looking and functioning stove. The only thing that I must say is this setup for the stove was originally something almost anyone could do on the cheap and quickly if needed. Not many people have the expensive tools and the machines you have to accomplish this. Imagine how long that would have taken without them, if it could even be done it wouldn't be nearly as efficient or nice looking. With that being said I commend you on a job well done and I must say that you have skills bro. Awesome job on the project but in a survival type of situation it would have to be ghettoed down a lot, lol
