This scene touched me so much. Three years ago, after watching Sing, I decided to join my country's local talent show, singing I'm Still Standing because I related to Johnny so much. Then yesterday I went to see Rocketman, in the same theatre/cinema in which the talent show was held. First of all, I am not having a good time at all, I'm struggling with mental issues and social anxiety. When this scene came out I almost cried, and at some point I had the impression Taron looked at me in the eye, with his face that said "I'm proud of you", while singing that song. MY song. Like he perfectly knew what I did in that stage even though he isn't even aware of my existence. It was one of the best experiences ever. If I ever got the chance to see him, I would hug him tight and thank him so much for what he did for me.

@RequiemKingEdits5 жыл бұрын
@@devijohnson2404 well, yes and no. Bohemian Rhapsody finished off grand and epic, but it was a little rushed (biopic continuity was all over the place in that film). With Rocketman, the time we get to this point of the film, we feel like he has redeemed himself as both a person and a character. Bohemian Rhapsody, even though quite colourful, it was a black and white representation of Freddie, which made the ending seems "fine" at best, while with Rocketman, we see Elton go through heartbreak and torment throughout his entire life, without holding back. Showing him in a colourful, obscured world, having to see him go through drugs, alcoholism and sex addiction, then coming out pure and free. But by the end of the day, Rocketman gets the +1 up on Bohemian Rhapsody as it was rated R and was a musical/ fantasy based film (which would've been a better fit for someone like Freddie Mercury).

My favorite scene from any film this year. So memorable and powerful and a nice nod to Elton for overcoming his drug problem. Also love how in the beginning he comes in the rehab center with dark colors and horns showing his negativity then at the end comes out with white colors showing he is clean.

As someone who’s struggled with mental health self harmed, attempted suicide twice this song has a lot of meaning for me and I always think of this song when I think of the dark times in my life. I’m still standing 💪🏾

I just went through a really tough breakup I honestly didn’t want to do but I had to for my own health. I found this song after briefly remembering it, this is helping me through it massively. It makes me remember that even though she abused and manipulated me I’m still standing.

I love how it shows how hesitant he was at continuing on with his life, taking the first steps in a new direction then building on himself which is what I'm going through right now, but yes the beginning of this video does make me cry a little with hopes of things getting better and hopefully uplifting in the near future, so yes it does give me a little hope

How in the world Taron didn’t even get an Academy Award nomination for “Best Actor” will always be a mystery… I also think this is absolutely the best “biopic” movie based on a singer, I like how surprisingly mature it is

I remember when I first started listening to Elton in 1970 and just missed meeting him whilst he was touring Western Australia in 1971..., and became a HUGE part of my life in 73' and 74'..., especially with Crocodile Rock and Benny and the Jets. Here I am now turning 65 and STILL loving his music..., thank you Sir Elton John. 😍🤩

They make it seem like this was the very moment Elton got sober, when in reality, he got blackout drunk with Duran Duran after the video shoot, and trashed the place. He walked in and asked "What happened?" and his personal assistant replied with: "You happened!"
@mmsiphonevinyls10275 жыл бұрын
thatonedrewguy i was thinking the same thing. But tbh, the whole movie takes so much creative license i dont really consider it a proper biopic anyway. Its better to just treat it like fiction.

Duran Duran came out in '83. This came out in 2019, right? 2019 from 2000 would be 19 years. Then from 1991 to 2000 would be another 9 years which makes 28. So he must have gotten sober around 1991 or so way after Duran Duran first came around.

I'll never forget the Story my Dad tells me that shows truly how humble and kind Elton is. My Dad used to work for Disney and he was an early Director for "Gnomeo and Juliet" before it was passed to another Director and Dad started on a different project. While he was on the project though he and my Mom, whom had Breast Cancer, got to see Elton John at a concert in Las Vegas and had dinner with him and his partner afterward. Mom and Dad had a great time at the Concert but it was the Dinner that was extra special. Elton saw my Mom with her fragility and loss of hair and understood what she was going through. So when everyone was taking their seats around the table he made sure he sat next to her and he had many conversations with her and made sure she was comfortable. When Mom and Dad came back they told the story and she says it was one of the best nights she ever experienced. She passed away a year later. It was hard to go through but I'm happy that Elton was able to give her and the rest of us a lasting memory that she was treated like royalty by Elton John himself. If I ever get to meet him myself, I would tell him that story and tell him thank you for giving our family that gift.

Some Musicians, artists, and entertainers sour after to much time in the lime light. Mostly due to things we never see. Elton never did. He almost burnt out but he came back shining brighter than ever.

I loved this version. But it took me a while as to why I love this version so much. It’s because the way they portray it into the crescendo is the true meaning of this classic of how Elton overcame his demons and survived (or still “standing”) after all of it. Great cover to a great song and a great movie.

It’s hard to explain because it kind of involves an image to make sense but I’ll try my best to explain it... Imagine you have two option you raise the palm of you hand and say one of the two options and then you do the same to your other hand but it’s the second option and you then go back and fourth with it.
