Stackcables Tip: Use a single very slow LFO set to +/- 5V; stack that signal to every modulation input that has its own attenuverter in the whole patch. Play around with the attenuverters while listening to the patch. It is OK to have the attenuverter at zero (null signal)!

Personally I preferr Elements into Clouds due to Elements exiter part and its envelope. Modulate Elements and put it into a modulated Clouds, and set Clouds to halfway mix and you have an orchestra. Those two were made for each other.

It’s funny, I use stackables on my TipTop Buchla modules, but hadn’t considered for Mutable. This is a stellar patch mate! Well done. Meanwhile, I’m going back to the drawing board, as they say.

When I finished and posted this video I wondered if maybe this 'blindspot' was overrated, but it's not. I now realize I overused them in this video and you don't always need them for every patch, especially when you have mults. However, I see many small cases with no mults and no stacks.There's no good or bad in modular, but there's plenty of unused potential and a lot to (re)discover.

Totally into this, my own system I'm working on is based on using stackables, we've mentioned before about organismic system, I think as a way of further processing such a thing it's a great way of avoiding that becoming a flat 2D sound upon further processing.

How good those MI modules sound. Still love them so much. Great observation, in VCV I go wild with stacking, in my physical set up not so much, only for feedback looping.

I have always had a handful of TipTop Stackcables (a pair of long ones and a pair of shorter ones). They have always been the first to get used in a patch and, until now, I never put it together that maybe I need more!

I find that using bananas also changes how I think about patching. The signal flow is much more direct literally but also conceptually. Or maybe that’s just doing stuff with Serge lol. Another great thing about bananas is the ability to patch just by touching it to the jack. It is effortless to wander around trying different connections. It can also be a great way of playing as well, super easy to connect and disconnect repeatedly in the moment. If I ever did eurorack I would have to be all in on stackable cables, can’t imagine not having that tool.

Tip: Find the cable length that can reach diagonally across your case and only buy that length. I have “evolved” from multicolored Hosa & Stackcables to just 40cm Stackcables for my 6U-60HP instrument.

This probably works well for smaller cases, but with bigger setups it only makes everything more obscure to read. It is even worse with classic approach to modular, where you rely on very simple modules and very complex patches.

@@desnou When a 150cm Stackcable costs the same as a 20cm Stackcable; just buy once. It is also a workflow issue, my thought process works better when I stop thinking about the cables.

This is one area where virtual really lets you run wild, as all the cables are essentially stackable (well, they are in MiRack and VCV). I occasionally get a bit frustrated with my hardware synths when I run out of mults.

Whether, stackables, or mults (I'm now using Intelligel's Unity Mixers (2) .. in strategic spots on my skiffs - 2HP widths) .. I too, am of the opinion, that this is one powerful feature. Besides the "Y" out of Marbles, for some additional "magic", .. merging either 2, or all 3 "T" outputs, via the unity mixer, into V/Oct of Beads, let's say, .. or, taking a channel of Stages, in the ramping/green mode, being triggered from Pam's, and having that assist someplace, downstream. There's no way to reproduce the effect later on, like you say .. I have taken photos, and have stored them with the recordings, IF the session is particularly fruitful. Thanks man

An other very good video! But, you patched the Marbles Bias IN into the Coulds Blend IN (blue cable) ? I need some explication hehe!
@CinematicLaboratory
@CinematicLaboratory 23 күн бұрын
That's the problem with Stackables. I think it's Y out to Bias IN and a stackable from Bias IN to Blend IN. The general rule of thumb is there must be an IN and an OUT somewhere in the chain so the voltage can go somewhere. So it's possible to have an IN + OUT + OUT to. When you'd patch OUT to OUT, nothing should happen. Same for IN to IN, but I noticed on my Serge this isn't always true. It's a magical world.

Mults are also fine for many recipes. You'd need stackables when you frequently run out of mults or built a case that doesn't have any.

@@CinematicLaboratory At a minimum it's definitely worth learning to solder. I'll have saved more than €1200 after an Oneiroi becomes my 16th DIY module, compared to what they'd have cost fully-assembled. Plus building them is so relaxing it's half the reason I buy DIY kits.

Every time I've ordered a stackable cable it's been WAYYYYY too long. I'm not good with metric so maybe that's why, but they also seem like a hot commodity and the normal length ones are rarely in stock. Maybe this video will increase demand...

Did any patch cables spontaneously burn threw during the filming? Because clearly Vger wants to join with the creator 😜 I advise against allowing that unless you want your entire setup to evaporate before your eyes 😂😈🫡
