I wish my doctors had been more like these folks. "Looks like a little arthritis", "just aches and pains of aging"... when they should have said, "you're obese and that is likely causing most of your symptoms". Which is what the problem ended up being. Down 65+ pounds now and most issues have disappeared. Still have a ways to go but it gets easier every day (minus a very stubborn 8 month plateau I'm working thorough). Good for these Docs!!

Wayward Woodworker awesome job! Everyone hits a plateau! Switch up your workouts, up weights, up reps, make sure you’re sleeping enough hours and stay hydrated. Try different things to keep you going. You got this! Everyday is a step closer to your goal

there seems to be a large kickback in our culture against this kind of 'hard reality' approach, where people are offended by being labeled as overweight, or obese. This is especially the case in medicine, where people get turned off when they ago to their doctor for knee pain, and he/she tells them to lose weight. Is it better just to call people out on these issues, or there some other , more elevated approach that will help people to see for themselves the problem, and act accordingly?

I have a noob question for anyone advanced. Do cross fitters train the same muscles everyday? example do you ever do bench press 3-4 days in a row? Or pull ups 3-4 days in a row?
@matthewfrancis92375 жыл бұрын
Everyone trains somewhat differently but most do some variation of each mode of training at some point everyday.
@riccervant5 жыл бұрын
you'd be surprised how many variations to work on different muscle groups there are, so you really wouldn't need or have time to do the same exercises everyday and you can train according to how you feel everyday

@@riccervant but do they ever squat or bench 3-4 days in a row or are u always switching up the movements?
@riccervant5 жыл бұрын
that would depend on your programming and your goals but I would say no, I wouldn't recommend it but you can get a better idea by visiting the crossfit website they usually have a daily workout so you can get a better idea. There really isn't a specific way or specific workout in my opinion, you can get creative and scale according to your needs and ability.
@chrono82335 жыл бұрын
@@riccervant I train full body every other day. Bodybuilding style.. I was thinking of dividing my volume up into daily workouts to cut down on workout time. I figured that if crossfitters train every day why cant I do a few sets of bench or squats every day. I mean training every day is training every day regardless of the exercises. The Norwegian study shows training the same muscle every day had the best hypertrophy results. So far ive done 4 days straight and feel fine. Ive been lifting over 8 years so I recover pretty fast. I will look more into crossfitt as well. Seems interesting.

I own an affiliate in Livermore,CA. Do you have any advice on how I can reach out to the Doctors in my area to get them involved? How you guys find CrossFit? Thank you!!
@Srockett5 жыл бұрын
Matthew Souza reach out to office managers asking if you can come in and show them how they can make their patients’ lives better at. lunchtime or group conference. Tell them about the community and how it really works.

so this is great, but do the American insurance companies pay for the Crossfit prescription? who pays for the gym membership, the nutrition advice, and the extra, personalized training that these MD's provide? Surely they don't do it for free...
@robthewaywardwoodworker99565 жыл бұрын
And there's the problem, right. It would be a great day when companies would foot the bill for a gym membership instead of paying for sick days and medical treatment. Obviously this isn't that simple but a large contingent of folks would benefit far more from a walk than a pill. The medical profession and the big pharma don't make a dime off people getting smarter, healthier and more fit. They only want to sell pills and therapy. Sad :(

Athletes should quit eating processed sugar......
@kapuaalakapikola5 жыл бұрын
Doesn't fruit have sugar in it?
@RafaXH5 жыл бұрын
natural sugars (which are just sugars), not processed which is filled with additives and so forth
@kapuaalakapikola5 жыл бұрын
There are all types of sugar that are extracted from different sources and undergone various forms of processing. When you start to mix other ingredients/additives with sugar it is no longer sugar (e.g. soda is a mixture of carbonated water, food coloring, sugar syrup and other ingredients/additives). Sugar alone should not be blamed for poor health outcomes. Sugar is a tasty, less satiating, and calorically dense carbohydrate which can be beneficial when used correctly in your diet.
