Thanks for this...it's always great to exchange with fellow Cultists. Finally putting a name to a face, with Martin, having purchased 2 of his BOC books. I first saw them live in '77, school was literally, just out for summer. They shared their laser show with Utopia, trading the favour for their bassist's services, decades later, when Kasim Sulton joined the band. We had great floor seats, on row 3. Like many of their real fans, I've seen them about a dozen times, from biker bars, to stadiums, hockey barns, night clubs, ballrooms, outdoor festivals...they ALWAYS deliver live, as their many great, live records testify❗My last show was an outdoor rock fest, seaside, 2019, just before the outbreak. In my early '60's, I'm gonna echo the tastes of many longer term fans, tipping my hat to the classic, Black & White triptych, as my favourite records; 1) Tyranny & Mvtation 2) Secret Treaties 3) BOC 4) Fire of Unknown Origin 5) The Symbol Remains Live Album; OYFOOYK 🔭👾👽😈💀

Saw them in Feb 2020 at the Variety in Atlanta. UFO was scheduled to open but someone was sick and they canceled. BOC covered the Opener slot, then came out and played another set after. 24 glorious songs in one night, it was amazing. Wanted to see Phil Mogg live, finally, but that much BOC was certainly great. Loved hearing you guys talk about BOC.

Hey Guys: I came upon your channel and had to comment. BOC began the night Buck Dharma (then Don Roeser) walked out of nowhere into my dorm room the first night of engineering school with a blue Fender and a pig nose amp. Next, Al Bouchard joined us and two others to form a bar and frat band we called The Travesty. Don and Al left for Long Island two years later and the rest is history. Later, I sent Buck the lyrics to Golden Age and he masterfully worked it into the Specters album. A few year later, he sent me a cassette of guitar riffs and Mirrors popped into my head. Those are our best known collaborations, and the ride has been a blast! Happy to say that I attended last summer Buck’s and his wife’s 50th wedding anniversary. Long may they wave!

BOC is so singularly unique and horribly under appreciated. No one sounds like BOC. Dark, creepy, moody, scary and so heavy yet remarkably melodic as well. Eric Bloom was a sensational singer. One of rock's best! With his dark sun glasses, he stalked the stage with his black SG. So cool. Allen Lanier...Mr. do it all. Keyboards, guitars, vocals and a great writer! Albert Bouchard was their secret weapon. A very special drummer. He was kind of loose and wavy...but still so heavy and always played parts that worked perfectly for the song. He was a tremendous writer and many forget how many vintage songs he actually sang! Everything changed when he left. Impossible to replace. Joe Bouchard ..a tremendous bass player, singer and composer. He also had one of the greatest live bass sounds I have ever heard. And finally, Buck Dharma. It is impossible to overstate how grossly neglected he is as a guitarist. And WOW what a vicious yet extraordinary guitar tone! Especially on their earlier albums. My top five albums are: Secret Treaties Agents of Fortune Fire of Unknown Origin Blue Oyster Cult Tyranny and Mutation Sleeper pick - Spectres But if I have to pick only one BOC album...it's "On Your Feet...or On Your Knees". It's one of my ten dessert island albums. Stunning! Favorite BOC memory....seeing them on my birthday in 1979. They crushed Rainbow from the "Down to Earth" tour. Here is the set list: Dominance and Submission Dr. Music Mirrors Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll The Great Sun Jester The Vigil E.T.I. Astronomy ME 262 Godzilla Hot Rails to Hell - Five Guitars Born To Be Wild OD' d On Life Itself (Don't Fear) The Reaper

"Agents of Fortune" is a real classic album. I can remember playing it over and over again in the 70`s. It was also very criticized because of the song "don`t fear the reaper" here in Sweden. They had a TV discussion where the Hard Rock fans and musicians had to defend the genre against some religious persons and media. The song was said to be suicide friendly, really crazy.

#1 Secret Treaties; #2 Fire of Unknown Origin; #3 self titled; #4 Symbol Remains; #5 Tyranny and Mutation. Any of the others will do though, cant go wrong with any of them, this band kills it! Extra Terrestrial Live is probably my favorite of their live stuff, but again, they all work. Thanks guys, awesome show!

I'm actually a bit surprised how nobody seems to like the song "Lonely Teardrops" from the album "Mirrors". I understand that it's not a typical BOC type of song but I think it is wonderful and one of their best.

Been listening/following them since 1973's Tyranny and Mvtation. First saw them on their Secret Treaties tour. What better time to start, eh? Was at the Long Beach Arena when they were recording for OYFOOYK. T-Rex was suppose to open for them, but canceled. Longer set for the Cult! Unforgettable!!!

I've seen BOC many times here in Seattle - mainly at the Seattle Center Coliseum. But in 1980 I saw BOC, Black Sabbath with Dio, Molly Hatchet [PUKE], and the band Riot - at the Seattle Center Memorial Stadium. There's a great bootleg of this show here in KZbin; it's just a picture of the 1980 ticket stub. When I was a boy I had every BOC album.

Great show Steve I love the band panel format. I have a question for everyone, I saw BOC with foghat in 81 on the fires of unknown origin tour. I was on quite alot of substances at the time and was mesmerized by an Albert Bouchard drum solo and to this day I could swear during the strobe light solo that his head transformed into a dinosaur. Did he or not?

I’m a huge BOC fan. My favorite is On Your Feet Or On Your Knees which is my second favorite album of all time. It is obviously without a doubt the best live album ever recorded. As far as studio albums: (for now as it sometimes changes) 5) Spectres 4) Tyranny and Mutation 3) Imaginos 2 Blue Oyster Cult 1) Secret Treaties BOC in my opinion is the most talented group of American musicians ever assembled.

First time I saw BOC was September 29 1979 at the Spectrum in Philly. They were great and it was the Mirrors tour and they played like 4 songs off it. However Rainbow opened on the Down to Earth tour and Ritchie was absolutely on fire that night! And I mean on fire! BOC wasn't looked at like they had a great show but they were really good! Last time I saw them was 2016 here in Columbus OH. They were absolutely fantastic!!! Richie Castellano is friggin awesome. These so called new guys have been there for a very long time. The newest album is fantastic and I hope these guys do more music together!

My second concert ever was Blue Oyster Cult / UFO / British Lions in the summer of 1978 - was a most amazing show when they still had the laser show. They came here (in central California) every year and always brought a great band as support. Seen them easily 20 times in the past 40+ years. As the panel said, every album has great stuff. My top 5 would be: 1-Secret Treaties, 2-Spectres, 3-Cultasaurus Erectus, 4-Tyranny & Mutation, 5-Fire of Unknown Origin. Great show guys!
Martin sounds like he had a cool family. He’s mentioned his road trips on several occasions. To have a family that would see a BOC show is cool in my book. Martin could probably write a book of his road trips. Good show.

One of my favourite US bands and one of the first bands I ever saw live in Bournemouth UK 3rd June 1978 (annoyingly Black Sabbath with Van Halen were playing 20 miles down the road in Southampton the same night however Bournemouth was easier to get to for a 15 year old living in a small town in rural Dorset!). Where I was sat in the relatively small Winter Gardens, when the lasers splayed out over the audience the flat green sheet descended from above through and below us. Favourite BOC album has to be Some Enchanted evening - particualrly the extended version - favourite 5 studios - Cultosaurus; Spectres; Fire of Unknown Origin; Secret Treaties; Mirrors - The Symbol Remains is up there as well. I also really like Imaginos, however I personally dont count that as a BOC album due to the host of others playing on it - I view it more as a project album featuring BOC members. Agree with John that Club Ninja is a pretty good album - in fact I really dont think they ever really made a total duffer - I'm also in the Agents of Fortune is only rated highly due to the Cowbell song camp.

Sometimes I think Martin is out of his skull. He's obsessed with "production value", as though this takes precedent over lyrics, composition and musicianship. Mirrors #1? Really?
