The perfect day.... I miss Jade hunting, I used to go every year to Big Sur, often 7-8 times a year. It's been 5 years now since my last trip..its like being homesick..so I really do appreciate your videos. Btw, nephrite is Jade, and jadeite is jade. The nephrite in your area is quite nice and is worthy of it's true title. Jade. Thanks

The last piece you collected looks just like the antigorite serpentine we get in Lake County CA. Very gemmy hard green crystals. Beautiful material.

Some beautiful stuff its amazing how the nephrite in Washington and BC differs so much yet they are so close but each have their own beauty . This is definitely some hard nephrite just by watching you trying to break these cobbles open shows its no serpentine and nothing worse then getting a jagged jade shrapnel splinter in your face

It always amazes me how much material can vary just a few miles away sometimes - thanks for watching!

Definitely a huge variation and diversity between the myriad of lenses in the greater north cascades region. You’re also able to find various Salish tools and artifacts in the area, as nephrite was highly sought after, even as a trading material to other tribes outside of the PNW. Can find things such as Coast Salish jade adzes. 🐸🙃

Thank you for making this video I've been wondering if the rocks I've been getting were of this variety after lots of research still wasn't certain. But I find much larger ones in my part of Washington and more colors.

Hey there! Got a pin for where this was? Driving through later today and it'd be nice to stretch our legs and see if we can pick up some jade on our way!

I think I know that creek. A lot of what is found there is Serpentinite which is much softer then the prized Nephrite. Serpentinite and it subgroup has Mohs hardness of 3-6 and a specific gravity of 2.6 where as the Nephrite has a hardness of 6-7 and a specific gravity of 2.95 which really makes it an easy identification. I think people often get a little confused by this one out there as they look so similar. I think I'll be out that way and Ill stop in to check that place out, what are you going to have at gallery?

I have cabs and jewelry in the gallery. You are correct with your assessment. I noticed a lot of softer green serpentine- out there. I left it in place for the most part. It’s a beautiful area and if you know what you are looking for you can find some pretty stuff!

Yeah. The areas around the teanaway are primarily softer serpentine material, with a lot of stuff around the watersheds around cultus mountain being more completely nephretized (with a lot of the stuff higher up on top of cultus being softer botryoidal stuff).

I have been interested in Nephrite Jade every since I have seen the Show 'Jade Fever' from British Columbia Canada! I'm from central Washington State and I have picked up rocks I think is Jade! Serpentine is found around here, I was thinking that some of these rocks are Serpentine wrapped around the Jade! So I got confused by the rind maybe? I'm hearing that there is White Jade, Black Jade in the State of Washington. Today I saw marble specimens I am thinking the rocks I have is marble! Novice rockhounder here, I have only a collection of specimens! No rock saw, equipment for identifying these rocks. Gets me out of the house because of my finding feldspar hand tools!

I wish I lived on the west coast, I’m a connecticuter here and we don’t have what the went coast has. Some days I wanna just jump in my car and road trip it there lol! It would only take 2 days lol! My sister and brother in law both live there and I always ask them to send me rocks 🪨 💎

Would you be able to help me with identifying nephrite (or like) or be able to point me in the right direction? I have a piece of property that is being built on (by the hood canal) and I am finding a lot of beautiful rocks but no clue what they are

I’m looking for color, texture, hardness, and feel. Depending on what you are looking for there are keys to or clues to determining cut-ability - some of the stuff I do bring home never hits the saw once I get a closer look! It’s all experimenting and continued education

Allright...seeems I have to school you on using a hammer. Being younger than you,....this fills me with dread. If youve elected to bang the rock open, you dont get to be picky on how it breaks . What matters is that it does. Leave it on a hard , non compressible concave surface, and then bang it with the hammer one handed only. Make sure you look away when you do if you are not using eye protection. Wear a mask when doing this. Your main objective is to break the rock, not your own fingers...

This is a ridiculous video with no expectations for anything like poor quality and the music is miserable with the poor mic quality that never stops . Constantly holding examples off screen only to see palms and arms instead of the rock . Did i say music is miseranle
