Hiya Nathan, Awesome video my friend, beautiful stones! What's not to love on those beautiful stones that can become gemstones so easily. All the different colors are so beautiful, there was probably some common opals in that area too. Thanks for bringing us along. I hope you have a awesome blessed day. Cya! 😺🐟 out!
@QuestForDetails2 жыл бұрын
there are common opals for sure ! I find it in the canyon spots where rivers tear open the mountains and the silicates are still high in water content , seems to be the lair of opals in jasper land. we have areas all around here that are obviously old hydrothermal mud pit areas , im always hoping for a hint of precious ......I sense its here but the vegetation might always hide it in these parts of the west.
@1catfishuntermiller7532 жыл бұрын
@@QuestForDetails well you know California is the only place in the world that has Bubble Opal, so yaaa I think there's a Big possibility that you are very right about that. Someone has given me some Bubble opal and it doesn't have any color play at all, but I'll tell you this, sometimes the stuff you find looks a lot like some of the stuff I have, it just has more silica in it. That's why I said what I said, because the stuff you found.....is.....soo close to it.

I fell in love at 24:09, hell I can't lie I was handing my heart out left and right from the jump!🤣 That stripped chunk you found.. (chefs kiss!) I love the pieces that have the wider bands of clear agate (I'm guessing that is what it is) that runs through the jasper. It somewhat reminds me of Indonesian Moss Agate and that is my all time favorite. I really wish there was stuff like that around America but I don't see it unless I just am not looking in the right places or under the correct names.

Giday Nate, well we’re to start, I’m not sure, I am really a bit short of words. Ok, once it started I checked the length of the video, over an hour, I thought this could be interesting, that doesn’t do it justice, the amount, colour and variation of Jasper at that location is just staggering, wow. Not only is there a staggering amount of Jasper but the variations are staggering as well. I can see why you started leaving great pieces behind, there is so much to choose from you could easily fill the back of your vehicle without making a dent in the amount there. Like you we have limits on the amount you can take per person per day, from memory it’s about 5 Kilograms, (10lb) here , but I have not been to any location yet where I would have been close. To think that is only one part of the shoreline there, leaves me bewildered. 😂😂 not to bad for “ lost for words” . Thanks for showing us this location and kept us watching the whole of the video. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

i've destroyed many over the years, but my main work horse combo ends up being a not so fancy set up : I just use a Sony handy cam thats shooting in 760 for most rock close ups, its auto focus and micro shots are in a 200$ camera is what made me go with this , along with the size. then for wide shots, hiking, trails view, things where I don't need to zoom in for close ups I use a go pro hero 7 black , and its also not extremely expensive, is waterproof and shoots H.D. , together its an all around package and each can be used and abused in the field and then replaced if and when they wear out, but thats just me and I like a minimal set up thats compact, rugged and replaceable in worst cases. hope it helps : )

Hi Nate! Thanks for the videos. I'm planning on visiting Lake Berryessa and area this summer. I actually visited last year. We parked in the lot at the north end of the Pope Creek bridge. I picked up a rock that I believe was in one of your previous videos. the lake was low, but, the area must have been picked over by the time we got there. Is it better south of the bridge? it looks like a great spot where you are in this video. I hear the fishings good this year, I live up here, and them rocks are what we are talking about. I give the google locations in my vids. so they can find the rocky zones, still kinda high water this year, which is good for the lake , I hear they are stoking even more. Knoxville has good fossils, not as much jasper, but has good Franciscan mix, theres some good picking at low water here and there where equine creek comes out of Knoxville as far as cherts and jaspers but this spot, is best ive found on the west side. its the old coves at the S. I hauled all I could lol, there's plenty, but its steep, I ended up leaving some on the way up, but its got lots of goodness all along there. honestly from oak shores to the old Spanish flats trailer park area here , there's a hundred miles of shore to check. the spots where ridges ran into the submerged valley are the best exposures, and now the waves crumble them away. some sections are sand stone sediment layers mostly so look for the volcanic rock outcroppings near the roads as regional clues to what's near, the jaspers here seem to be near those . happy hounding.
