Welcome to the Utah Rockhounding Couple channel! We're Kent and Steph, and we're passionate about exploring and finding beautiful rocks and minerals in the deserts of Utah. Join us on our adventures as we drive our Jeep to remote locations, search for hidden treasures, and share our love of rockhounding with you. In this episode, we're heading to the Green River in Southern Utah, where we'll be looking for agate, petrified wood, and Jasper on the banks, or in the water, if you're Steph, of the Green River on a sunny spring day. So grab your rock hammers and join us for the fun!

Hi, love your videos! We visited the town of Green River a couple months ago, we would have love to look for rocks right on the river, can you say about where you are? We live in Nebraska but we will be visiting the area every spring. Thanks!

I'm not sure how easy it is to get to without a high clearance vehicle but its called Salt Wash at the bend in the river north west of White Wash Sand Dunes.

There may be other spots along the river that are more accessible though! Lots of other great spots in the area for agate and jasper too. Glad you are enjoying our videos!

Hey there Shaymom28, I think that if you go straight west of Whitewash Sand dunes and track any location along the river where there is access, I suspect you will find agate. My suspicion is that you won't find very much north of 38.8619455 Latitude. In terms of ease of access, this place is a pretty tough place to get to comparatively. Unless you like drives that are a bit nerve-wracking (at least for me), Agate Road and Owl Draw both near Cisco off of 128 would be better and accessible in most vehicles. Yellowcat and Poison Strip are also easier access with as much or more agate. On the other hand....It doesn't seem like it would be easy to pass up those gorgeous agates on the Green! If this isn't helpful, let us know. We can be more helpful as needed. By the way, It is great to have you come visit from Nebraska! I believe it was there that I first saw lightning bugs, and of course Scott's Bluff is great. I'm looking forward to those great sunsets again too!

@@kentroundy9287 awww that’s so great! Yes lightning bugs are awesome, I used to catch them all time as a kid, my mom would take jars and poke holes at the top, did it with my kids too, it’s tradition around here with many people :) Thank you so much for the help! We do have a pretty high clearance pickup, we also don’t mind hiking a ways. I wish we had cool rocks around here, but we really don’t, not a great place to be a rockhound and have a passion for rocks like we do lol. We love Green River, it’s a great central location for great rockhounding around there, but it’s hard for us to find spots because we don’t live there, any help you can give would be so much appreciated! Do you have a way I can contact you outside of here? We tried Cisco/yellow cat but didn’t have any luck at all, but I know there is lots there, just don’t have ample time to explore unfortunately. Let me know, thank you!
