Hey I want you to know I was so inspired by your channel that I just made a 5 day trip to Cape Split! I fossicked four days in different spots (yes Scots Bay Beach was amazing!) and hiked the Cape Split trail with my dog. It was a 24 hour drive from my home in the middle of the states but totally worth it! Thank you so much for your great content. I am hoping you guys get a reprieve from the fires soon!!!

Thanks for showing us your work. The cabochons look like the Sun and the more colourful one is like an alien planet. The ‘druzyness’ really enhance the beauty of the pieces. BTW, after watching one of your videos I decided to pay more attention to the small rocks in my garden, whilst I was feeding the birds yesterday I found a 1 x 1.5 inch pebble of rose quartz…I used to collect rocks and minerals, very cool. Thanks again.

I’m just learning how to make cabs right now and wanted to say that watching your process has helped a lot! I have a couple question I’m hoping you might answer - when you draw your cab, the side with Sharpie ends up on the dap stick as the back of the piece...do you do this to ensure your base/back is flat? Wouldn’t using the marked side as the face of your cab make sure the colours & pattern you select are featured?
@RockhoundingLife
@RockhoundingLife Жыл бұрын
If I have an end slab where one side is flat and the other is rough then I am forced to put the stick on the flat side. If I have a slab with both sides flat then I will surface polish the side that has the best features so I can control the amount of grinding I do to get the best features to pop. Hope that helps!

New subscriber, so forgive what's probably a stupid question: It looks like you're picking the bits with colorplay, etc., and stenciling the shape to capture that...but then rounding the opposite side of the slab? Is there a reason you do it that way? Aren't you missing out on what you thought was the best color/pattern? I'm confused. :D (note: I'm often confused, though, so it may just be me. :D)
@RockhoundingLife
@RockhoundingLife 14 күн бұрын
First off...welcome aboard! Second....whichbside i start on depends on how thicknit is and the oattern i want to get. If i think pattern runs all the way through then ill start on either side. Sometimes i thinknit will stopnhalf way so i try to hit it from the other side rather than takebtgebchance of losing it on the other.
