So glad you kept that clear chalcedony partially natural. Really gives it character. What beautiful finds, especially the eye agate & the cool purple pieces.

These are so beautiful!!! So glad to see this all! So just for clarification-Citrine is a quartz crystal.Carnelian is agate.Even though they are all technically from the quartz family,they aren't the same.Carnelian is a type of agate,which is the microcrystalline version of quartz,a type of chalcedony.The crystals are structurally different from the agates completely.These were great finds,and they turned out great! Thank you for sharing them with us!
@RockhoundingLife

To me, citrine and carnelian are the same thing. Chalcedony quartz. Just different colors.

Rockhound Mom does good camera work . She gets close to the surface and it's very clear. I pause sometimes and do a bit of hounding myself! Montana has some nice beach rocks. Your style is good also. If you could edit out the auto focus it would help . But time. I get it : )

@RockhoundingLife time is definitely my enemy. I have turned my life around completely. 2nd of 3, and my life expectancy was only maybe to age 18. My big brother passed at 51, helped out by some major health issues.

So I have time. However, my body is giving major issues. Hoping to move back to Hendersonville, NC where at the back of the Gem and Mineral Museum have a full lapidary workshop. The Hendersonville Gem and Mineral Club. Found all kinds of rocks, minerals, etc. Just walking in small creek beds in Pisgah National Forest and other locations.

How do you differentiate the small limb casts from regular agates the same size? I can't see the palm wood grain or texture in the limb casts. Also, if there's inclusions in the clear chalcedony, why aren't they agates? I guess I'm asking for your definitions.
@RockhoundingLife
@RockhoundingLife 3 ай бұрын
Basically if it is red and opaque it is a limb cast from the Scot's Bay formation. just experience rockhounding in this locality.
