I'm new to the rock hounding, I've been a welder, now I'm disabled from an accident, so your videos are really helping me to know what to look for on the outside, and my books also, but it's great to see, people that like it as much as I do.

The slice of seam agate at 18:02 looks like a candidate for iris agate or parallax agate. If you can locate it might be worth your while doing a polish and getting a nice little treasure

Will you tumble the fire agate and if you do , do you use a rotary tumbler or a vibratory tumbler?
@RockhoundingLife4 жыл бұрын
We tumbled these. We do stages 1 in the rotary tumbler and stages 2,3 &4 in the vibratory. Some of these agates will be in our tumbling rocks video tomorrow.

Great video, and beautiful rocks! However, that is not a fire agate...it is a flame agate. Fire agates typically come from Arizona and have a multi-colored iridescent "fire" effect. It is the same kind of "fire" that opals, diamonds, and other gemstones have. It doesn't really have anything to do with the shapes of flames. That being said, again, great rock...nice find, and I'm very jealous! Lol

Thanks. This was corrected in the comments back when the video came out. Good catch though! Thanks for watching!

Wow, you have some beautiful agates there! I'm from NS up on the Northeastern Shore near the Northumberland Strait - do you have any recommendations for rockhounding groups around my area or any good places to rockhound?? I'm just a beginner but I love it!
@RockhoundingLife4 жыл бұрын
Hi there fellow Nova Scotian!!!! If you are on a Facebook there are numerous NS rockhounding groups with great people from all over the province. Depending how far you are up the Northeastern shore the best place around that area is Five Islands and surrounding area. We go to Five Islands provincial park quite a lot. We were just there actually, video of that out next week. Its been picked over pretty good this summer. We were there 2 months ago and there were lots of agates and Jaspers to pick up. This time when we went there wasn’t as much but we found some nice pieces.

I laugh and am jealous when I hear on these videos down grade a rock. Most of the time I,d be tickled to find it. Can't wait until Spring when I can start cutting rocks. That's where the real beauty lies.
