Hank Ballard wrote the song, thus the 1958 reference. 1960 C. Checker gave it LIFE!! I was 7 y.o. then. FINALLY got to see him live at the Showboat Casino (now demolished) in Vegas. All of the100 or so people there wanted to give him a hug or fist bump, his magnetic personality was so warm.

I saw Chubby Checker in person at the Vapors in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was fantastic! Obviously..the twist is a good workout. Chubby is not chubby. He is looking great!
