The scenery alone is worth going all the way out there! Great video!

THAT was definitely an adventure! You'll get em next time because now you know a bit about the place. The Warner Mountains are one of the hidden jewels of NorCal.

You'd never expect it up there with the high desert all around it. It's a drive out there though haha

@ it’s winter steelhead season in my neck of the woods, so lotta that plus working on a few new film projects. I need to some more winter trout fishing in though.

I live across the border in Lakeview. Those lakes are two of my favorites to fish. The swamp is called Dismal Swamp. In the spring the skeeters are ferocious. You were definitely there in the best season. The creek on the Oregon side is good fishing. I tried the California side with no action but i didn’t get to the area near the border fence i was further upstream. I plan to hike into the other section this year sometime. Happy fishing 😊

Thanks for sharing your adventure. Really nice and relaxing video. I was always curious what that part of the state looked like. People that don't live here always hate on California, but I always say that if you like the outdoors, this place is amazing. Nothing like fishing with slippers while it's snowing 🥶😂

It's funny how many think CA is just the beach or the bay area. We have a very diverse landscape. Another pet peeve of mine is when people refer to fly fishing in the "west" and they don't talk about CA.

@driftstone California's fly fishing sucks. To anyone that reads this, don't come here! 😂

I am up to 4 now for the California Native and happy to say that 1st area you fish, come back mid to late September with a tenkara rod and your quiet ninja skills as I slayed it there with my Tenkara USA Sato and Rhodo. Many Warner to hand. Before that, Gooselake was done as well just down the road a while. Next up for me is McCloud Redband. Thanks for the video.
@driftstone7 күн бұрын
Awesome to hear! I'll definitely be back late summer early fall to get one. I've already got a goose lake a couple years ago. We planned to do Warner but a tree was down across the road. So hopefull 3rd time is the charm :D McCloud Redbands are pretty reliable to catch in a couple places. Good luck!

The only way I was able to catch fish in there was on my knees with a 10' leader. Dry dropper 6x caddis with a midge dropper. They are in there. Most of that water holds trout if it's 10" deep or more. It's fun up there.

That's my only regret was not approaching these fish lower. Next time we'll do that.

I've got the z6 which doesn't have internal blog. I would like to give it a try when I upgrade to the 3 this year. I have a 3rd party color profile that dials the sharpening down and drops the contrast way down so it gets me more room to grade than the normal color profile.

Forgot shoes hmm that's a first but understandable,awesome video & beautiful country,live in Lakeview Oregon & fished the Oregon creeks in a similar area,that's beautiful but ruff country,not a place you want to be in winter or any snow storm,weather can change quickly,sorry you didn't get you fish goal,but you caught fish & got out that's the best part,tight lines & bent rods 🤙 🇺🇸
@driftstone6 күн бұрын
Haha yeah not sure what I was thinking there with my shoes. That's some beautiful country. We ate at this nice BBQ place in Lakeview on the way home, so good and affordable.

When fishing small streams, never walk the stream ahead just to look at it, Fish as you walk because you might scare everything in that area before you even had a chance to fish

Tip: when fishing tiny streams, it is a really good idea not to be standing straight up in the open. Not to speak of setting up tripods right over the target wqter... just saying'
@driftstone6 күн бұрын
I definitely could have been lower, thanks!
@Allshore4 күн бұрын
California’s most remote trout species is the Paiute Cutthroat. You scared everything setting up your tripod. Everything between you and tripod was compromised.
