This is great! I was worried I over pruned my bush crepe myrtle, but after watching this it seems I took an appropriate amount off. Time will tell though!

Loved your video..you didn’t fly through it describing what you’re gonna do like some people do..you took your time showing the cuts and zooming in where the viewers can actually see where the cut is..this helped me tremendously👍🏽..very informative..keep showing good videos!!👏🏽👏🏽😊

Thank you. It was very informative. I bought some last year on clearance, my first ever crape myrtles. They were spectacular bloomers. I am anxious to see if they make it through the winter. Now I know how and when to prune them.

It's like going to the hairdresser and asking for a "1/2" TRIM" and she cuts 5 inches off the back, you now have short hair and she says, "It'll grow back!" Lol😉

haha! It's JUST like that 😂

Where you make the cut, do new growth come out from around the cut? I tried pruning my young oak tree but now it it growing more dense at one side. I think really messed it up. Just wondering if the Crepe grows a certain way so I don’t make the same mistake.

yes, typically pruning will encourage new growth.

We live in Florida, moved in December and moved the tree to a new location by a professional. Here it is May 5, and still no sign of life, there is green under the bark, will it live?
@RockledgeGardens3 жыл бұрын
Yes, most definitely still alive if it's lime green under the bark. Sometimes the tips die back and what you can do is scratch the bark on the branches and if it's not green go all the way back to where it is green and prune there to help it come back more quickly.

The Crape Myrtles that Brian used were potted plants that have since been sold...but appreciate the tip on follow up videos!

These were in containers that have been sold. But next time we trim the crape on our property, we will be sure to film it.
