Hey Don, this backing vocalist is Bonnie Owens, this was a great song this was done early in Merle's, career his voice was really good then and even got better later in his years, great request, thanks for the great music.

The female backing voice you referred to was most likely Bonnie Owens who was Merle's wife at one point in time. She continued singing backup even after they divorced.
