The most important thing is that we have this on film for countless generations to view. They will see all kinds of people gathered together and listening and moving to these wonderful sounds from this wonderful band. Computers are now taking the place of instruments, in some cases, and this is so sad. These men are producing great music from instruments that are such marvelous works of engineering. Yes - I love live music, and saw Chicago live in Charleston civic center, early 70s. However, the "live" soundtrack you're hearing has been "touched up" a little here and there. Watch at 3:23... the trumpet is playing even when not blown into. A classic performance nonetheless. This was no doubt done to make the performance more "perfect" - sound more like what the audience is used to hearing on the studio recording.
@NoEgg4u3 жыл бұрын
@@nortonnewmann3711 Yes, the audio and the video @3:23 do not match up. I do not think that anyone tinkered with the audio. I do not see how they could have blended in the trumpet. I suspect that what happened is that they had footage from several cameras, and they were a bit sloppy piecing it together. They had to use a single audio track from the event. But they had to splice together various video footage from each camera, and I believe that they just did not time that section of the video to match the audio.

Good music up until they needing saving from their own excesses (addictions) when (pompous douche) David Foster started producing them and their sound became the horrible 80s wuss rock of Peter Cetera vocals.
@ronclifford33362 жыл бұрын
@@Chapooski They actually started experimenting with their sound after "Saturday" came out. Their very next song was "Wishing You Were Here", which was a bluesy slow love song. Didnt hardly sound like Chicago at all. It was a pretty good song though. I think "Saturday" was pretty much the end of the "trademark" Chicago sound?

Tower for Power had a great (and still does) horn section too. Having said that - Chicago with Terry Kath was special - one of the greatest of all time.
@Solar3334442 жыл бұрын
@@shermcat1 I'd agree, Tower of power did have a great horn section, but I was never a fan of their music because we were only privy to a single hit/cut from their albums. One thing I've discovered only decades later growing up in a small town, we only heard what the studio wanted us to hear. Meaning, we missed a lot of great cuts off other albums unless you bought it. (The old Payola days) Sacramento had one rock station up until the mid to late 60s. Yes, Sac. would literally turn out the lights ion the 50s and 60s by 6:00 pm.
