Damn, I could listen to this forever. Chicago is at the height of their powers here. Grew up in Chicagoland and they will always be in my top three bands of all time! So happy I grew up in the '60s and '70s, when music was passionate and REAL.

Even as a fan of Metal bands that are considered to be 'tight' when playing together live (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Tool) it is unbelievable to see how tight Chicago was in this video. To do this live in the studio this well blows me away, I know it was before my time, but WOW!
@DaveAnchovies3 жыл бұрын
hey, i am a fan of PUNK bands who are thought of as people who cant play, thats when you know someone as never heard Robert Quine shred a stratocaster or the drums of George Hurley (minutemen) or plenty of others. Chicagos CTA first album is raw and LOUD.
@DaveAnchovies3 жыл бұрын
@Joe Townsend thats usually how a recording session goes...nobody is in the same room. this is done for the videos sake. especially with a huge band...everything would bleed into everything else and the recording would be a mess

@@DaveAnchovies Minuteman fan here too! That stuff there or this stuff here completely fits in with that why they are both great. Danny Serephine or George Hurley are two great drummers. Right up there with Neil Peart, John Bonham, or Bill Ward!

@@DaveAnchovies When bands play live in the studio, they are usually in isolation rooms for the reason you stated. Some studios are set up with the isolation rooms facing into the main studio so everyone can see each other if they want.
@librarian00753 жыл бұрын
@@willer3399 That is today. In 1973, I suspect that was far less common. Even when the rooms were available, studio time was extremely expensive. Bands had to go in there, get it done, and leave ASAP. Also, lots of studio tricks of today didn’t exist then. The pauses on 21st Century Schizoid Man were done live in the studio (and live).

These guys are the best of the best. My sisters girlfriend dated Peter Cetera in the "early" days. I use to watch them practice their early hits and use to get backstage passes. Every single one of them were incredible musicians and incredible people. I really miss the original band. R.I.P. Terry. Still miss you after all these years.

I’ve mistaken Cetera’s voice before. I’ve often said, Peter Cetera and Terry Kath sound nothing alike but Robert Lamm sounds a little like both of them.

So badass.. been listening intently to 'rock and roll' for 48 years since i was a 13 year old boy in Seattle area and my Mom would have radio , am radio on. Been intrigued since. Remember Chicago when i was a teen in 70s, heard 25 or 6 to four by bands other than them a thousand times by 1980, at high school bball games, football game etc.. lol.. always thought they were alright.. i actually really liked Old Days a lot since maybe 1980. My appreciation of Chicago has gone up intensely for last 5 years This song is intense, cool as possible, well done and is catchy, relevant and sounds incredible from an old man stoner who loves rock music while stoned.. Masterpiece , Feeling Stronger Everyday is am certsin

I was six when this song came out it and I loved it. Now as a middle aged-man fighting bitterness and cynicism it has become my favorite. So much Relentless Positive Energy. The video was cut short, would have loved to see the reaction of the band and producer etc at the end of the take.
