Would give anything to hear the theme music for "The Secret Celebrity" contest that they ran in the mid-80's. Steve always knew how to edit together the hackiest parts of any old comic's or radio guy's schtick.

I was there. Sad the Sox forfeited the second game. 98 cents to get in. The station was 98.6 on the FM dial. It was a great time to be young.

Steve was Howard Stern BEFORE Howard Stern. His era in Detroit, especially with George Baier, was groundbreaking for the late 70's. He is a legend for "Kid in the Crawl" alone.

Steve didn't invent what he was doing. Other DJs did a lot of what Steve did but Steve did it well enough and in a new market for a lot of that stuff so did get a lot of cred.

Chicago got lucky...because if Steve wasn't fired from W4 in Detroit a year earlier. This would have happened at Tiger Stadium and would probably have caused a bigger uproar than it already was then.
