I have been impressed with "Sir Ben" since discovering him online in early 2016. He is not your "usual" officer. He loves his soldiers and watches over them like a mother hen. He makes me proud to be an American and also to have served in our great military.

I commanded in Europe under him, in austere and remote environments. Initiative and creativity are the lessons I pass onto the lieutenants I now instruct. Thank you for the ride LTG Hodges. Like Soldiers used to say, I served with Patton, I say, I served with Hodges.

Thank you so much General Hodges for your words, I can speak for myself out of history, since my grandfather and my father were out of "The Sudetenland" in the now called "Czech Republik". Our family originates at the town now called "Cheb" and former Eger, which is 60 Km from the Grafenwoehr Training Area. My father and his family were forced to leave their home and property after world war in 1946 because they were the minority of Germans living for so many decades along with all their Czech neighbors and friends. But they all were kicked out, because they were the "Sudetendeutsche", and the wounds because of that are sometimes still within my family. Dear General Hodges, thank you for describing your situation as a young officer in Germany before the "Fall of the Berlin Wall" and your visit to Berlin, I was on a visit with a German Youth Music Band out of Pressath sometimes 1977 or so and we all in the Bus were told to keep calm and quiet at the "DDR" Border otherwise they would let us wait for hours to pass the border, this is one of the horrible moments I still can remember! When I was 23 in 1985 I first visited my Dads and Grandfathers farm in the so called "Tschechei" and I was so surprised on all the land and property my Dad and Grandfather had to leave behind in 1946, it was a beautiful home they had! And in order to visit, it was really painful, we had to make requests over and over again! But finally they approved it and my aunt was still capable of speaking the Czech Language because she was 17 years old when leaving home and Czech Friends in 1946! We finally ended in a Czech Guest House with good food and beer and so much understanding in June 1985, never ever will I forget this with 23 years old!! And until now our Czech neighbors are good friends and also in Military Exercise. We all thought 1989 would be the beginning of a new world order, but sadly it wasn´t, thanks again General Hodges for all of your hard work!!

kulmainer I’ve been to Chen when I was stationed in Grafenwoehr. I loved working for and met LTG Hodges a few times, as a captain in different places throughout Europe. He was a fine soldier diplomat.

@@luvslogistics1725, thanks and LTG Hodges will be always in my mind! Working as Local National for the US Army for so many years I appreciate the US Army for further protecting us. This has become something we all did not expect years ago - but 60 Km to the Czech Republik - and now by the way our best Allies! they are now in front together with Poland! War is only 2 hours flight time from Germany, it is getting closer and closer if there is no stop!

Discovered General Hodges through his excellent Ukraine commentary. This too, did not disappoint. Always thought the story of Joshua Lawrence, Professor of Rhetoric, and his "Fix Bayonets" order and subsequent actions have never received the recognition they deserved. Can be argued that he was literally the Man That Saved The Union.

Its 2023 and I can now see just how Ben Hodges developed the leadership skills he now displays in relation to Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. A brilliant leader.

He's working (lobbying) for Ukraine, nothing wrong with that, but concealing that income is dishonest. The overoptimistic forecasts he has given as a result (several times he stated in 2022 and 2023 that the Russians would run out of ammunition or missiles, Ukraine would liberate Crimea by Aug 2023) will not reflect well on his lecacy.
