I was born in 61. The seams you look for marbles in always have toys from my childhood. That creepy clown thing was part of a set that would balance together and you could build chains like the old barrel of monkeys. Black Label was in Baltimore. My old man drank it. They had 16oz. bottles as opposed to most companies 12oz. I remember when twist offs came out. Like 1967-68. Old man cut his hand on one, wrote a letter complaining, and they had local delivery driver bring 2 cases to our house. Never seen anything like that before or since.Thanks for your videos. They've made these lock downs a lot more bearable.

I used to collect marbles kinda still do from garage/yard sales. I had the best ones in a five foot glass display case. with three shelves. I drilled holes in two plastic shelves. To keep them the marbles in place. I found out that O rings work better on the glass shelves. I used to use old glass domes for clocks. I had glass cut for the first ones. For the larger domes. I started to use blank CD's. Used plastic tube for spacers. Filled some of the tubes with marbles Put three shelves in each. They were very nice displays. A couple of them had only hand-made marbles. Wish I would have kept one or two of them. I counted them because I was going to try to sell them. I had around 27,400 of them. Most were newer sling shot material. I sold them for $9,000.00 Trying to find more. Slow going. I bought one quart jar full of marbles for $112.00. Just from the pictures for the auction I could 3-4 pop eyes. Turned out there were 33 of them. One was damaged pretty bad. Wish They were still in their box. I got $500.00 for the pop eyes and $89.00 for the rest of the jar. They are still out there. Just have to be at the right place at the right time.

Wow rock, I've never seen so many awesome colored marbles. You truly found your honey hole for the really good marbles these past few days. An thanks for the history lessons on the different marble makers . We all love to learn about the history of what ever is that we find. It's always good when we find those really nice relics we've never seen before. That's what it's truly all about and makes it so much fun. I myself was out metal detecting today an found some civil war buckles I had never seen before. An that just made the hunt worth it. They were made by the L&R meatal company out of the Bronx new York around 1860. Once again what a great day for you an the marbles. They no longer have to stay buried in that stinking dirt. You have now brought them back to life again. For everyone to enjoy. Isn't that just great. Thanks for the great video an taking us all along for the ride. Now let's get ready to find that honey hole loaded with arrow heads, tomahawks,axes,spears, who knows you might even uncover a head dress or a scalp. Lol. As always safe an happy hunting/digging. 😁👍👍👍

Yea....this is the best spot by far I have been on the entire time I have been here on KZbin. The only bad thing....only so many were thrown away that are that nice. They will run out......I am hoping they are all over the place.......but I think most of these older ones are late throw aways. Like where a kid played marbles....and his dad gave him or her....his marbles. And then they all got thrown away together.

I'm trying to find a good site to dig, do you have to get some kind of permit from anyone?
@rockscousteau4 жыл бұрын
No....some places you have to....but it is legal to metal detect and sift anywhere in the river where I am. Some places you need landowner permission. Some places are federal owned. You would need a permit on a place like that...but I do not even mess with those places. Permits and all that stuff is a pain

@@rockscousteau I live in GA., and lived in Atlanta for a couple of years, it was 1969 thru 1971, there was a city dump close to our house, it now has many house built over some of the dump. There was a creek that ran thru the dump, do you think I could walk the creek and possibly do some digging without getting into trouble? I know the dump was around in the 30s and 40s before closing in the late 70s. You got me excited about what might lay under the surface lol.

You need to start carrying a fire extinguisher because you are on FIRE. Smokin. A certain few of those marbles are works of art. I recall you had a wooden sifter. I'd almost recommend dry sifting shovel by shovel. But you have a handle on it. El Chapo to round it out. Some really good content all the way around. Thanks, Rocks.

Are you sure the marbles are uranium in them and not radium? Radium was the material used in WW2 to paint instruments and watch faces to make them glow. It seems a lot more likely that it would radium and not uranium. I'm curious as i don't know much about marbles just what ive learned in the book radium girls.
@BirdnanBarry4 жыл бұрын
Buckeye USAF Veteran I make mosaics from old glass and it is uranium in the glass. I have found lots of sea glass that is old uranium glass. Some glass is milk glass/ jadite the green it does not glow under black light. Still a pretty green. Milk glass came in several colors all pastels not just white.
