Rockshox Zeb vs Fox Factory 36 - DIMENSIONS

My Yeti SB150 came stock with a Fox 36 170mm fork. I bought a Zeb 180 thinking I would overfork it by 10mm. That turned out to be not true. To get a Zeb to be the same Axle-to-Crown length as your Fox 36 you have to drop travel by 10mm. You'll see in this video that to equalize the geometry of the bike I had to get a 160 air shaft installed on my 180.
I have a 170 mm air shaft also as backup. If I need more travel than the 160mm then i'll bump it up to 170 at the expense of 10mm (0.5 deg) slacker in the front.

+RyuMoto Did you test both forks? And is a ZEB a worthy upgrade over a 36? I currently ride a Manitou Mattoc pro 2 160 and was thinking about maby upgrading to a ZEB, not sure yet.

Was the 20mm axle to crown difference discernable in terms of handling?

@@RyuMoto thanks. I note the fox 38 170mm is a little shorter than the zeb. I am sure you accounted for fact that there will be extra sag will bring some of that height back down again.

@@jediali221 sag is the wildcard. If you like to run a lot of sag then than can compensate. It depends on your preference

@@RyuMoto Ohhh, Im getting 170mm ZEB today. Going from fox 36 160mm. Hoping to see a big difference. Its on a yt decoy ebike. I think it was underforked but it was interesting to know that my bar height will be higher than just the 10mm travel change. I was having issues with diving and maybe binding a bit so this should really be much better suited to what Im riding. Might put my 36's on my canyon spectral
