Definitely recommend beginners to incorporate the emulated bass into their play. I went through all the songs earlier this year with the emulated bass just for the hell of it. It was a bit easy since I've been playing RS for 2 years now but it was fun and helped further improve my finger placement and picking.

I think Jared McAdams or someone should include helpful lil nuggets of Music Theory into the Game. Like how he mentioned how playing the Bass is like playing Root notes. I never knew that. See you are teaching!

LOVE this feature. One thing you left out - or may not have even thought of - is the fact that you can run a line out from your surround sound to your PC (or just mic your speakers) and use the bass emulator to add depth to your guitar recordings.

Can you play the lead or rhythm paths with a bass? I assume not, seeing as my bass only has 4 strings, but it'd be neat.

I love Rocksmith and have never played the emulated bass. Definitely interested though. Would I be able to pick up a regular bass after this?

I used to play guitar and I've recently gotten more into bass. If you can play guitar you should be able to play a bass fine with a little practice, but don't do what I did and completely give up on guitar, you WILL get out of practice from just playing a bass. I'm now useless on a regular guitar! But pretty good on a bass

Actually playing the emulated bass was what made me pick up a bass and I'm so glad I did. After 3 months I have learned so many songs

***** same here, I have gotten to a point where only about 3 songs on rocksmith are below 98% for bass, but I find my problem is remembering songs, I completely fail at master mode (or playing bass outside of rocksmith)

I guess so, if you would want to play with a pick. But the strings are different, they are harder to push and pluck, so keep that in mind. Also, you must feel the rhythm and co-operate with the drummer. I would also recommend you to learn to play with your fingers only if you will buy yourself a bass guitar.

I have never played guitar before, I literally can't make a guitar to make a good sound to come out of it, but I really want to learn. Will Rocksmith actually teach me the basics and help me improve?

Everyone is different, but I would tell you yes. If you are willing to take time and do some of the lessons along with working through the songs. Sometimes it can be frustrating, but stick with it. Once you start, check out various youtube teachers like Marty Schwartz to grow even more.

I actually bought a bass to go along with guitar since I last posted. My playing has improved, but you won't find me playing at a coffee house or open mic anytime soon.

It's "Good Times" by Chic. Sampled by Sugar Hill Gang for "Rapper's Delight". The bass player who created the bassline from Chic was Bernard Edwards.
