Why do some people not only dislike Trivium but actively hate them? Never understood it myself. Even Matt has talked about this. They were young, cocky teenagers that wanted to become the biggest metal band. I to this day see no wrong with what they said. If you don't wanna be the best then why are you even there? Just feels like they were the biggest thing in metal one minute and then everyone hated them the next. Personally I've loved them since 2005. Great upload, Mr Brain and apologies for the rant. I see these guys as genuinely one of the most talented bands in metal and I just think they deserve to be so much more successful than they already are. Roadrunner Records were obnoxious as fuck with their marketing at the time. I remember when The Blackening came out from Machine Head and they had an ad in a small music paper saying "Is this the best metal album ever?". In the documentary that came with the Roadrunner United album the executive in charge came across like an obnoxious asshole and the Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr riff played between every transition. Also, they were hyped as "The New Metallica" but through misinterpretation that got turned into Heafy and Co themselves claiming they were the new Metallica, recently I tried to find evidence of them saying that but I found nothing. That was likely bullshit Roadrunner hype that made more people hate them, Metalcore/Emo was pushed way too hard by American metal labels and press so naturally there was going to be a backlash. It came across as a fake fad to replace the dying Nu Metal trend and Trivium were at the forefront of that and were pushed the hardest.

Only thing I disagree with is being the biggest band. Some musicians (like myself) doesn't care about that. They just want to leave their mark on the world or perhaps they just love making music for the joy it gives them :). I agree with you on the rest! They are my favorite American band next to Korn and I've met them several times. Nicest people you will ever meet :). I think I got into them around 2007 (I'm 32 now). It wasn't until they re released Ember to Inferno that I finally got to listen to it (sadly). I love every single album even though Shogun wa my 1st and will always be my personal favorite for many reasons.

That starting riff sounds like it's off or slowed down 😅, but man what a great album! Trivium is my all time favorite American band next to Korn and I've berm lucky to meet the guys several times. So humble and wholesome. They don't deserve the hate as someone mentioned, but eh what can you do lol. Sidenote, Shogun was my 1st album and is my favorite to this day :). A Finnish friend at the time told me that I reminded her of Heafy when he had long hair. I don't see it 😅. My hair doesn't curl like his and he is like above 6' when I'm like 5'10 haha.
