Nah, I prefer Rockstar abandon it. We would have been seeing Golden Wagens with Diamonds and a Gold Plated Maxim Machinegun mounted on top. I don't want GTA Online's nonsense to exist in RDOnline. It was bad enough that the business were being modeled after GTA Online's Biker Business and the Bunker grossly boring/grindy absolute nonsense. You can argue the moonshine business was more like the Nightclub, and Naturalist is basically the Agency with extra steps. But over all they were copy/pasting GTA Online style content into the game and I hated the idea. Similar concepts of supply a bar watch another bar grow which I hated so much on GTA Online.. lol Bounty Hunter role punishes you for finishing quickly which ruined any enjoyment you could have had with it. Over all Rockstar learned lessons from GTA Online, and started applying them in a negative way into RDO. So I'm glad they abandoned RDO before they added even worse nonsense than they already had. They already ran out of ideas by the time they expanded the Bounty Hunter Role, and added the Naturalist. The Capitali nonsense was just grindery contact missions. xD

RDR On Line NEVER made any sense … They should have provided $Thousands in DLC for story mode. I've somewhere around Ten Thousand Hours on RDR2 Story Mode and three hours on-line because it is garbage. The fact is that RDR2 was and is the greatest RPG game ever made ... But R* seem unable to grasp that. They are hung up on GTA and micro transactions. I would have spent a $1000 on story DLC … But the they never made it.

they dropped support because they're still making a lot of money from people buying the game and there are surely many new players buying gold, not wanting to grind for roles endlessly. So to them, the game is a success, they didn't just abandon and miss out on millions by no longer releasing big updates. The day they see the numbers going down massively is the day you either hear about new content or they stop giving attention completely. And considering theres a bunch of dripfeed content still never released, it's most likely the case that they're satisfied with the money theyre making and plan to eventually drop some blackjack mode or some properties when it actually does get bad for them. People think not releasing endless massive dlc means they'll no longer make money from the game, but clearly based on the numbers they're perfectly fine with their profits. To them, its most likely not even worth the amount of money it would cost to release some massive update, just advertising the update would be a massive chunk of cash. And I'd assume they can tell massive dlc is not worth the investment

Yeah I just started three weeks ago. So far, my opinion is without a lot of players online and not being able to keep wild horses I tame, it's not really worthwhile. It's a shame. I was excited for it once I started playing rdr2 and found out how great the game is.

Red dead just isn’t the same beast that GTA is, profit wise… GTA Online is so flexible that you can have almost anything, including flying motorcycles. Red dead just doesn’t have that flexibility unless they want to ruin their own game (Rockstar regrets a lot of the things they added to GTAO despite the profits) It’s a great game, but just doesn’t bring in as much money. They will focus their sources to what does.

I would recommend the PC vision of rdr2/then get redm, it's where the modders and coder came together putting more content into red dead redm than the base game, some servers are good, some servers ain't that good Would get a medium build PC then you're good, I'm only 28 had 5 years on rdr2/online on ps4/5, then moved to PC last year

i’m not even sad, i’m genuinely so angry that they just gave up on such a beautiful and unique game, there is not a single game like it, nothing will ever replace the aesthetic and vibe and community even the sub cultures within the game, it is irreplaceable and if i had to choose between rockstar releasing gta6 or focusing on red dead again with 100% dedication and new items for clothing weapons and more along with new roles and missions i would choose red dead every single time, its the fact i’ve spent so much time on this game and have literally built a emotional connection to it and there’s a chance they just shut down all the servers so i can’t even play it anymore, them not supporting the game and abandoning it was bad enough but now to say they could be shutting the game down as a whole is so enraging. I read this news yesterday, but I didn't really understand much. It's sad to think that in January, around my birthday, they might end support for Red Dead Online in terms of monthly rewards. Having these rewards has definitely kept long-time players active, giving them something to do weekly just to earn something, unlock some limited outfits, and maybe reconnect with old or new friends. We'll wait until January 7 to see what happens.

Whoever was in charge dropped the ball with RDO. The initial Roles update was literally a perfect recipe for future updates, but they just abandoned the concept entirely outside of Naturalists (which is cool in concept, but SO boring). What we needed directly after the first update was a sheriff and outlaw role to hold us over. Moonshiners was just a copy-paste GTAO business, and why would you spend time doing a single business in RDO when GTAO is already so fleshed out.

I have bought sometimes RDO gold not because my character don't have it, but to give RS some reason to keep this game up and running. Also I suspect many low level players are actually multi-profile long time players who just start over again with new characters. Great game, best game for me during the recent years, but could have been even greater just by incorporating some easily addable features from the story and so on... And PVP Cat please continue with RDO videos as long as possible even I know and have seen 99% of it which is possible in RDO 🙂

Back when this game came out I thought I would absolutely never play a western game like this, and now it’s one of the coolest games I’ve ever played. I finished the story and now I’m just getting into online, already over lvl 110 and maxed out all the roles, and this is how they treat this amazing game. No bank robbery heists for online, no nothing. I understand how most people are never gonna get into a western style game as much as gta which is more modern and relatable, but this is just sad man.

As someone who bought RDR2 when it came out, and just picked it back up as I enjoy slower games now, I am extremely disappointed and let down by the discontinuation of monthly events. It is truly not that hard to have set events revolving every month of the year. Now I just have to deal with the frustration of missing out because rockstar can’t get over being cheap and writing actual decent code. Honestly I believe RDR2 is such a good game that Rockstar believes it’ll outshine their other games if they keep supporting it. Can’t take sells away from gta6.

The brothers who created Red Dead split a couple of years ago. This is the end of Red Dead. There will not be a Red Dead 3.

Most of these video game companies are greedy and lazy, Mostly because of the NPC's that keep buying their virtual skins, Battle passes, Etc'.... From what i remember THQ was one of the best companies out there, Good games and acting fair without any dramas but now they reopened and probably under new management...

Atleast they have yet to end support for photos & the liking, commenting & sharing of them. I could care less about all those other stuff not appearing on my feed when photos is still basically the only major wall activity related to the game.

It's both sad and ironic. I used to play a lot of RDR Online and relied on Cat's guides. I never got around to finishing the RDR2 single-player story, though I’m still very interested in it. Now I want to start with the RDR1 remaster first. There’s less and less reason to return to RDR Online... But on the bright side, I discovered Max Payne 3 "Online", a game Rockstar abandoned ages ago, yet full lobbies (8v8) still come together from time to time. MP3 "online" survives purely thanks to the Discord community. No new content is needed; just fast-paced cinematic gunfights - that’s all it takes. RDR2 Online will likely live on in a similar way.

RDO was so good and undersupported it made me into an RP player. I'm dreading R* shutting down CFX and taking my last place to play Red Dead from me

If the monthly updates will shut down, I would quit. They are definitely not adding all of the cosmetics from RDO to the original game, and that’s the only reason I play online. Sad business.

I see lots of "why?" But its pretty obvious and this matching great with changes from semtember (removing posse and horses names) - they prepare and do changes in general players interacts and possibilities for interact. Many people says there are no activity on social media for players (walls etc), but that isnt true. There is and mosty very, very toxic. My guess is, this doesnt mean shut down support (that what we now have) and eventually shutdown servers, but preparation for releasing GTA6 to the "clean" player envivorment. If they shut down problematic area, there will be no controversional things, what can bring bad light on new game. They dont want to see rasist names of posses and horses, they dont need toxic posts on public walls. They have game, what making them passive money. But that game cant harm their main thing and if there are possibilities for this, they remove that option. Thats all.

If you look at this from a strategy point of view, gaming is a product that have 4 years shelf life. The money they continue to make doesn’t justify/cover the resources and facilities they need. You need to understand the corporate policies are very clear since day 1 or the game, they don’t jump into it and see where it goes.

RDO had the potential to be one of the most successful online games of all time. When GTA online started, it was trash. Worse than RDO is now. There was nothing to do. But Rockstar stayed with it and kept updating it and that's why it's what it is today. Rockstar is literally the only company on the planet that thinks having two successful products simultaneously is a bad business move. Smh lmao.

I’ve never bought a shark card, but if rockstar had added new rdro content I would have bought gold for new passes if I didn’t have enough. I absolutely love this game and I’m heartbroken they abandoned it.

RDR1 has such a great multiplayer with lots of content. They should've reused that concept for RDO, instead of tryna making it like GTAO. Which probably took too much time, thats why they abandoned it.

An up side of RDO being P2P based is the cost to R* of keeping it running will be lower, hopefully delaying the day the entire online game is shut down. No expensive server bills for hosting sessions, just servers for the undemanding tasks of inventory keeping, player management etc. When the decision is made to shut down RDO, I have a feeling it will be for ideological reasons not economic ones - bury the game they abandoned and pretend it never existed.

By 2025, the age of Red Dead was at an end. Rockstar has become a slave of the free market. Even GTA has mostly become supportive of DEI policies A few players still played Red Dead Online, but they were being shunned and ignored.

So if Rockstar truly intends to end support for RDO, why are they still watching it like a hawk for in-game glitches (e.g. recent multiple map glitch) and actually investing resources to fix them within 24 hours? But as good as it is, RDO is crippled through being set in an era where you can't add any content newer than the late 1800s. It also lacks interest from most gamers, who prefer a larger variety of things to do (flying, driving, etc.)

I think gta iv, yes 4, servers are still working so if the multiplayer of a 2008 old game still works I rely on that to have hope of red dead 2 online servers still works until at least 2038 and far more honestly.

Honestly not surprised at all, and I've given up on this game by now. I played a few times last month just to collect the old Outlaw Pass items that had returned, but other than that I don't play it anymore. I got extremely tired of the breadcrumbing from Rockstar. It's not gonna change and the game won't receive another DLC ever.
