That's the excuse. The one major leak was 2022, and they are doing this now, one and a half year later. If security was that important to them they would've either done it earlier or announced it earlier. The whole economy is in the gutter and lots of companies are cutting on expenses, rockstar is no exception. With moves like these a company saves money, not having to do severance pay and they might have a say on who stays and who leaves, or they can hire other people to fill vacant spots who won't argue their salary very well. And IDK how the work conditions are at rockstar, but having your employees right under their nose also makes them able to control them. Such as no leaving the desk unless you are on a break or have to go to the bathroom, no talking to each other unless it's work related, force overtime, nag about small issues that doesn't really matter etc. Keep the pressure on and see when people give up. Those are the kinds of tactics big corporations use to push people into quitting. :)

Plus, Rockstar sent email to it's employees sayin they would NEVER go back to 5 days in office. Now they've gone back on their word and only given them 6 weeks. No matter how you look at it, it's scummy to say the least.

I'm not excited about GTA VI. All the leaked footage and other rumours point to GTA V cross-bred with bits of RDR2, wrapped up in new graphics. It's not that exciting or interesting. Most of the game will feel just the same as the old formula always did and I think people need to manage their expectations.

If RSG sent out a memo stating that it would never do something, that's a document that can be used as proof of intent. Now that they have gone back on that intent - a 'legally binding' PROMISE, the employees can group sue the company, but then RSG will simply fire them for it because, let's be honest, there are hundreds of thousands of programmers, designers, artists, etc. out there dying for a chance to get an industry job so employees are 'disposable assets' and therefore meaningless. It makes perfect sense to me. Why keep employees with no special training who just do what they are told to do and then if they get uppity you just remind them of their non-disclosure contract and kick their asses out the door. Oh yeah, that's the American business model, baby and they're living the dream! Sadly this is the way it is. Any and all of the games companies know it, the SUITS know it, the senior management know it -- EVERYONE IS REPLACABLE. Everyone - period.

Rockstar is going to start laying people off once GTA VI is released and bedded in. They won't need such a large team unless they plan to just sit in silence until 2028 then announce Red Dead Redemption 3 rather than something that might not be so stale. Just you wait and see.

Damn man, the only good AAA games to come out over the last 4 years were Elden Ring, Spiderman, and God of war. Tbh they were only decent, nothing groundbreaking/innovative Baldurs gate 3, Palworld, helldivers are not AAA. Gta 6 was the last hope, the only franchise so far that has not gone to utter shit.

AAA games have really been lacking recently. They either released unfinished, or not enough content for the money. I still have hope however, that GTA 6 will fix this. I just don't want the people making it to get shafted in the process, since they are the ones we need to thank.

But working 5 days a week in office is normal. 6 weeks notice? That’s literally 4 more weeks than the standard 2 week notice that employees would have to give the company to leave or take time off. So Rockstar is giving 3 times as much leniency to its employees as it expects back, and wants them to actually come to work. I don’t think it’s too bad of an idea to try to have less leaks, I would enjoy not knowing SOMETHING about the game when I first play it😂

Hey dude, worth watching the video first! Average salary at rockstar is only 5k a year more than minimum working wage, we need to be careful peddling the idea that there employees are rich? Also worth noting that due to studio time zones a lot of employees are in the office from 7am to late at night to be able to have calls with other departments. Employees have said when they work from home it still means they can put their kids to bed, have dinner with the family and still be able to work in the evenings, jump on calls etc. They are also upset because (as Jetro stated in the video), a large portion of their workforce live hours away from the office, the fuel cost for some of these employees would be 1/3 of their actual salary. Then there’s also the elephant in the room, rockstar emailed all their employees back in 2021 and assured them that the 3 day work schedule for their office based employees would be honoured, and of course that has been changed.

Imagine willingly being this much of a slave. Theres more to life than work my friend. Think a little about your life. Do you want to spend it sitting at a desk, or living your best life? Thats why people have issues RTW. It doesn't increase productivity. It doesn't increase quality. It doesn't increase speed of completion. It makes ordinary people like you and I miserable. So I've got to ask, why do you think thats a good thing? Who does it benefit? You? Me? Or the multi billion dollar corporation who couldn't give a damn about you, I or the employees affected by this? If you're still thinking "they're just lazy" then I ask you - if you were asked, no....told right now that your expenses were going to increase, that your free time was going to be reduced, and that you're not getting paid any more for it, despite only doing the job to get by, would you be happy with that? There's more to life than sitting at a desk making someone else rich. And you only have to look at Rockstar job listings to very quickly realise that no, these employees dont get some massive paycheck because they made a billion dollar game. That honor is reserved for the executives sitting in their plush offices. Lowly developers, designers, translators etc are being paid no more than your average mid-tier job. Think about that for a moment.
