Rockstar to Curb GTA 6 Security Breaches By Bringing Employees Back to Offices - IGN Daily Fix

Rockstar Games is asking their employees to come back to the office five days a week. This is in response to several data breaches resulting in major leaks of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. Employees, however, are less than thrilled with the idea, and a game dev union is accusing Rockstar of going back on promises made regarding their work-from-home policy. In other news, Saber Interactive has now separated itself from their embattled parent company, Embracer Group, to the tune of $500 million. Saber is reportedly still working on the troubled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, though no updates have been given since word got out that development was essentially starting over on that title. And finally, Tekken 8's microtransaction shop is live, and fans are not happy.

Demanding a return to the office isn't just about security. It's also a way for Rockstar to conduct soft layoffs because not everybody can, or is willing to return to the office. Gotta love corporate greed. Thousands of devs are being let go even after many publishers posted record profits. Disgusting.

If Rockstar was serious about it being about security they would just hire some significant security people to security audit all their work from home staff. The sort of thing that would pick up that a staffer at home hasn't updated their plex software leaving a vulnerability that was then exploited to get into the staffers systems and subsequently the company's servers (Okta is where that happened from memory......)

Difficult to care about GTA any more. Rockstar and 2K have proven themselves to be a low-grade, profit over quality organisation over the last few years. This combined with treating their workers terribly whilst the big boss of 2K continues to take home an astronomical sum despite the complete lack of quality in their recent releases. RDR 2 was the last competent release and that was 5 years ago. Rockstar can do one.
