In The Moment When I Truly Understand My Enemy, Understand Him Enough To Defeat Him, Then In That Moment I Also Love Him, Ender Wiggins In Enders Game

Meaning: our true enemies are sin and death. When we realize we are utterly hopeless to defeat these enemies on our own, we look to Christ our savior to fight on our behalf. Egypt represents our bondage to sin. As the Lord brought the children of Israel out of physical bondage, so Christ brings us out of spiritual bondage by his sacrifice on the cross. He defeated the enemies of sin and death so that we may enjoy the peace of the promised land, heaven, for eternity.

@NoCampDad2 жыл бұрын
@@sparksdrinker5650 God is not interested in political wars. He's interested in spiritual war. The battle for the heart of his people. That's why he didn't over throw the Roman empire. He came to show there is a greater enemy; sin and death. We conquer those enemies by his substitutionary sacrifice. He died in my place, paid the penalty of death on my behalf, so that I could win the war and live in eternal peace.

The studio wanted to cast Burt Reynolds as Rocky?!?!?! But, Stallone wouldn't sell the script unless he played Rocky, even though they were offering 350K for it, and in 1975 that was a ton of money for a script. The studio relented, but said the budget would be low due to the lack of a star. The film was shot in only 28 days. Stallone went from nobody to star overnight, just like his character. That underdog vibe is what won Rocky the Oscar for Best Picture in 1976, over an all time great film like Network.

Great reaction to an awesome movie. This great piece of art was made on a very low budget and shot in only 28 days of filming. The end result garnered multiple Oscar nominations and ended up winning the Oscar for Best Picture. Btw, this was the movie that created the 'Workout montage' with the music in movies. Before this movie, filmmakers didn't see it necessary to show the athletes working out, since they thought it would bore the audience...lol. But Stallone changed all of that making sure that there was an inspirational work-out montage in the movie, the very first of its kind. Now pretty much every movie in this genre uses a similar work-out with montage.

Rocky one is about the story of a man who redeems his life, the background is boxing but that is only the "Noum"... Rocky's purpose is contained in the speech he made to Adrian while he was on the bed, to last 15 rounds with the world champion to prove to himself that he was no nothing. Actor Stallone was inspired by himself and told his story in the film, before becoming a famous actor, the dialogues and real life scenes are thanks to Stallone, he often took inspiration from real life scenes and was very impressed by the spontaneity of the Italians. Italians emigrated to America in search of fortune many years ago, Rocky Marciano came from a poor family... there are many realistic references in the film.

"Rocky" is easily one of the greatest movies ever made. While it might appear to be a boxing movie, it's more about the struggle of humanity and the day-to-day survival of the people within a tough Philadelphia neighborhood. I found the scene with Rocky yelling at Mick and showing his frustration, then Rocky embracing Mick to be one of the most heartfelt movie scenes ever. And, yes, the ending also tugged at the heart strings a bit. BTW, I know this is a bit out of left field, but you have a great combination of beautiful smile & eyes to go with an infectious laugh :)

At the very least I would advise you to watch Rocky II (1979) - my personal favourite and it fits quite stylistically with the first film. Watching Rocky and Rocky II back to back is like watching The Godfather and the The Godfather part II back to back - both films accentuate each other. Although I would also strongly recommend Rocky III, IV and VI. Rocky V is, how can I say it, different from the rest of the films - to its detriment - despite being directed by the original director of Rocky (Stallone directed II, III, IV and VI). I'm not blaming John G. Avildsen though. Stallone is responsible for the script, but you also have to blame studio interference for changing the end of the film into quite an absurd and laughable climax.

He won in so many ways. He was the first one to ever go the distance against Apollo Creed, getting one of the 3 judges to call him the winner. He won respect, he showed he's not just some bum from the neighborhood. And, of course, he won the girl. It's really a perfect ending. Regarding it needing more room to breath at the end - ending here left audiences in the theater cheering!
@billrab18902 жыл бұрын
Sylvester Stallone was inspired to write this movie after watching the Mohammed Ali - Chuck Wepner fight in 1975 and the character of Apollo Creed was based on Ali. Nobody gave Wepner much of a chance but he knocked All down in the middle of the fight and made it to the 15th round before Ali finally knocked him out.

Yeah. Rocky was really an indie film. It was Stallone's passion project. It was the movie that made him famous - and it was his screenplay, which makes the success even sweeter. While I enjoy many his other films, this one has a special place for me, because he was as on-the-margins as Rocky ....until he got to make his passion project and realize the world shared his passion.

Micky always saw the potential in Rocky, but always thought that he was squandering his talent. He always wanted the best for him, but his way of doing this wasn't to treat him like he was wrapped in cotton wool, but to treat him mean. Many people watching Rocky think that Micky is a chancer to begin with, only because Rocky got the title fight did he show interest. This wasn't true. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie too, brilliant video of yours, great reaction video.
@bradhorowitz27652 жыл бұрын
Hmm…I do have to say it’s a bit selfishness on Mickey’s part. Rocky is right in that Mickey never went to encourage him. Is it a coincidence that Mickey approaches rocky for the first time in his own home to be his manager? No. Mickey even more or less confirms why he is doing this: “I’m 75 years old…” Mickey had a prime but never went very far-he is hitchhiking on Rocky’s newfound fame. But it’s very real. Both men have issues but stick together because it’s their only chance to not be beaten so easily. It’s what the rocky movies do that so different from other “sports” movies; all chraracters are real-they all have their flaws. Em

Rocky did win. Not the fight, but the battle. He got the girl and during his 'dark night of the soul" scene with Adrien on the bed in his apartment - he changed the terms of the fight... His strategy wasnt to win - but just go the distance, as he said He cant beat the champion, but he could be the first to go the distance with the champion.

The tertiary character in this film whom I’ve always liked (surprisingly enough to me) is Rocky’s loan shark boss. Yes, he gives Rocky grief for not being willing to break bones, but in the end, he likes Rocky as a person and supports him, both before he hears from Apollo (the $50 to take Adrianne out) and after, and then he comes to the match to cheer him on. And he’s not looking to take advantage of Rocky’s big break, unlike just about everyone else in his life other than Adrianne.
