We definitely felt more playfulness in the Sight and that’s supported by geometry numbers in this case. The Altitude is a much better climber though, and probably a little faster in chunk. If you’re looking to jump, go for the sight for sure. It will exceed when you least expect it

i'd have to highly disagree with the comment about not being an all rounder, All the reviews including what i got from mine is this bike is probably the best middle of the road all rounder. Can do my local easy trails awhile smashing at the bike park. many good riders including Jeff kendall-weed love this bike and several others said how good and well rounded it is. I've ridden alot of bikes with less travel than this that claim they are fun bikes but the altitude is still a more fun bike and mines a 29er large. Edit: wrote this comment before you still went on spitting crap about it not being playful, lift that ride 9 chip and put a spacer or two in that shock. your basically saying enduro-mtb - the brutally honest reviewers are wrong. They even reviewed it twice and both times they said how poppy it was how well rounded it was. sorry but you got this one very wrong. stick to reviewing blue trails

Thanks for commenting! This bike may become more playful by adjusting ride 9, however, it is not a playful bike overall. My Norco Sight and Range with similar travel ranges are far more playful, not to mention the Trek Slash (arguably the most playful enduro bike I’ve ridden), Transition Patrol and Evil Wreckoning. The only bike I have felt less playful than this was the YT Capra. So yes, adjusting ride 9 will certainly help, but it was not designed to be a playful bike overall and it is not towards the top in this category.

I bought the Carbon 50, 29er 6 months ago and found it very agile and playful. And yes, changing the flip-chip position makes a world of difference. Coming from a Trek Remedy 27.5 trail bike, I was shocked at how much better and sharper the Altitude felt in comparison, considering it should be the opposite way around. And I have to agree that you're the only reviewer of this bike so far who's had that perspective of it. Hopefully any potential buyers will watch the other reviews too before deciding that the Altitude "isn't for them" 👍

I think the biggest take-away is to ride bikes for yourself and decide how you like them. I've both agreed and disagreed with something in just about every single review of the Altitude/Instinct I've watched or read. To me, it's a good climber (not what Beta said), and I would call its handling "playful-ish" (not what this channel says). More specifically, I would describe this bike's handling as quick and intuitive without being twitchy, but it doesn't sacrifice stability at speed or in chunk. The suspension performance is amazing - more open and plush than most other designs, esp. compared to short-link designs like DW/VPP. I'm not much of a jumper any more, so I can't offer an opinion there. My point is, that's all just my opinion - and others can disagree and we can all be "right". I agree with ​ @michael mc dermott ...watch as many different reviews as you can. But even that can't replace experiencing a bike for yourself. Ride bikes, decide for yourself, and enjoy what you choose.
