It's safe but just don't go on a backstreet Alone. The same as any city in the United States.

There’s armed police like at Sturges, Daytona, Galveston, etc. Policing so everyone stays safe and keep some order.

I would guess that the Presence of Heavily armed Police is to send a message to the Cartels that they are watching out for them.

There's no reason for the cartels to care about Rocky Point. There's no airline service or cruise ships. You have to drive there, 4 hours from Phoenix or Tuscon.

The cartels make money off Americans. When news travels to America of danger it hurts the cartels. They widely avoid hurting tourists, even turn on their own if they harm one.

Every place there has a business pays a tax to the cartels and u have cartel people in the mix with the tourists seen was popping
