Just as I remember it, I used to play this song to my Mother who absolutely loved it, we had such fun. She's long gone now & I'm 68 & haven't played a guitar in years but after finding this I might just take it up again as I have grandchildren now. Thank you much for sharing.

Part of the magic is that it seems simple. But how many millions of bands out there never get a hit and the Beatles could pump out one after the other for almost 10 years? They had a gift of seemingly simple words put to timeless music and it worked for them as a recipe to create masterpieces.

This song was written almost 30 years before these kids were born. What an great era of songwriting. Not just McCartney, but so many scores of other songwriters. And it lives on today and is appreciated by these excellent musicians and budding songwriters.

@@roberthultz9023 The song was primarily written by Paul McCartney while playing acoustic guitar with John Lennon and Donovan in India where the Beatles had gone on a retreat. There was some light background harmony at times with Paul doing all the lead vocals.

@ksfhhnfan That does indeed seem to be the case. However I have heard interviews where Paul and John seemed to have some debate/conflict over who wrote certain songs or parts of songs. But this particular song is very Paul. I understand they wrote close to 50 songs while in India which is amazing not only because of the number but also because they are all spectacular.

When my daughter was a little girl in about 1972 or 3, she had a rocking horse and would rock to this tune as I would play it on my guitar. She knew every word and would get that horse going like crazy. Fun memory! Thanks guys.

One of my favorite things is Reinas vocal delivery . It is clear and precise, great care is taken. Almost over pronunciation. Easy to understand. Her , Toni, and the guest artists give me a optimistic feeling of the past clear thru the future for music !!

I love this. Once a friend of mine asked me, "Do you know Rocky Raccoon? ... What? You don't know Rocky Raccoon?" That was 1973. I had to learn it. So I did. Josh plays it better than I do. I'll have to study this a bit and see what I can do. Thanks Josh.

The instrumentation and vocals on it are gorgeous. In the fall of 1972, walking around the campus of Ohio University, a lost, timeless classic!!

I made it to the Dallas concert and it was one of the happiest nights of my life. Also, Josh asked if there was anyone in the audience who was there other than because of KZbin and I had brought my friend who hadn't ever really heard much of either group, and she asked me afterward, "Why aren't they famous already?" I know you're all getting there, and touring the country is the way to do it. Thanks to all four of you for showing up on your Southern tour. What a treat! Reina, your t-shirts are very cool.

Thanks for mentioning Richie Havens. Richie did some beautiful interpretations of Beatles songs. Every time i moved to another place the first song played on my equipment after setting it up has been " Here Comes the Sun" by Richie Havens.
