Was looking at getting a pair of snake boots for bank fishing from heavily brushed areas. Your additional comments of walking through a marsh and not getting wet sold me. I’ve got those same boots. Been wearing them for 7 or 8 yrs now only for turkey hunting. They haven’t leaked any water. Been a solid hunting boot and they’re super light too.

I've had my pair around as long as you, but mine have always leaked at the bottom of the laces. But man are they comfortable to walk in.

Try spraying them with camp dry. I treat mine whether it needs it or not. Really does the trick.

@@MetalneckOutdoors I have done that and it seems to help for a day or two than needs reapplied. I only use these for spring turkey hunting and try to pick clear weather mornings to hunt. I just try to avoid walking in tall grass when there is a heavy dew on as much as possible, so it isn't all that big a deal to me. Other than being hot and sweaty when it get up around 80 degrees or above they wear almost like tennis shoes.

Had these boots for about a year now and love them. They do leak a bit of water, thats my only complaint. My only hunting boots and I wear them all season long so I don’t like water getting on my feet on a 30 degree morning.

I agree that the boots need to be snake tested in their advertising. The KZbin video "Chippewa Snake Boot Test" sold me on those boots, lol.

JUST GOT MY PRO LIGHT ROCKS TODAY I plan on doing a review of them but hope later a follow up review is not a true test involving critters without sholders they feel comfortable, but never wore tall boots besides rubber boots which I have been running for years

I purchased the Rocky Snake boot with the side zipper. The boot fit and feel are great and very light weight for a boot. The only issue was the zipper gets stuck in the material. I'm currently waiting for them to send a new pair back. Like he said the boots feel really great so I probably should have gone without the zipper.

Good review. Thanks for the info. I'm in Louisiana where there is a snake under every rock and every fallen log. I've seen some really big 'uns and I am definitely in the market for a good snake boot. You helped me narrow it down.

I plan on spraying some camp dry silicone spray (orange top ) from walmart, many folks say they are not waterprroof for long

Awesome real world review! Tall lace up Snake Boots, are the way to go with. As they offer the wearer the best overall protection against all sorts of animal bites. Be it from, Snakes, Snapping Turtles, Wild Boar, Bear, Wolf, Scorpions, Centipedes etc. As well as act as a preventative splint during impact jumps. These are the type of Temperate and Tropical Combat boots that the Military should be issuing to it's Personnel and not the useless low boots, which offer very little leg protection to the wearer.

I do logging/ tree work I have almost been bitten twice and I was just wondering how well they work for everyday use in hard environments compared to standard logging boot

That’s a good question. Over time I have some water leaking in so I avoid standing in water. Other than that they are honestly the most comfortable sho I own. I wear them during bow season and turkey season. They have held up very well and the traction is amazing. Got to remember they are not steel toe. So I’m not sure if they would be a good choice for a situation where a log might get on your toes.

I just purchased some rocky outback’s after wearing out the other Rockies I’ve had for about 2 years. I tried the outback’s on prior to purchase and let me tell you. They are extremely comfortable and cannot wait to get out in the field to actually test them out.

Lacross rubber boots is all you need. Snakes can’t bait thur rubber boots if they could I would done been dead. I been hit over 10 times in Lacross boots by cottonmouth and copperheads. Those boots will be fine if they are not to stiff and hurt your feet.

Yes they are. Used them all turkey season. They are no doubt the most comfortable shoes/boots that I own. My son even purchased a pair. I still haven’t put them in water and haven’t needed to where I hunt.

I have and they have let a little water in. That can be expected from a non rubber boot. I actually coated mine with camp dry and took care of that. I normally don’t buy a boot that needs to be water proof unless it’s rubber. Also, they are not insulated. I have worn them in 35 deg weather and my feet didn’t get cold. Still the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever owned and would buy again.

Yes. I would buy again. I still have put them in any water, but I have had them in some really wet areas and they have performed very well. They were comfortable when I first put them on. Even more now.

How are they as far as the size,do you find them to be pretty true? I seem to have a problem going from dress shoes to a tennis shoe over to boots. Seem to be about a half size here and there. I to have never owned a pair and seems with age I', Way more interested in safety as opposed to whn I was 23

I feel like they run pretty true. I like a wider shoe or boot. I really don’t have a wide foot, but I like side room on a shoe or boot. End to end is different. Guess the side room is personal preference. I am the same way. I use to stomp around the woods and not think twice about it. Something with getting older I guess lol. They are great and are unbelievably comfortable. I mainly use them when there is any chance that I could come across snakes. I definitely will wear them all of Turkey season here in the South.

@@MetalneckOutdoors I’m here in Alabama aswell, looking for a boot that I can use during all the hunting seasons and will hold up to these Alabama mountains, my old work boots I have aren’t the most comfy hiking in the woods so I’m looking into these and a few others but like you said, rocky is the only one that shows they are snake boots.

I'm with him get chippewa boots we have had rockys they don't hold up chippewa is the best in business friends have been bit and no punctures. Sold on chippewa because of personal experience.

True to size. I normally buy wide in my hunting boots and I wear a 12.

I pulled mine as tight as I could get them and walked. Now just loosen them and should be good.
