I have had many rescue shepherds they are the most amazing animals.

YES they are! So loyal and protective. However, most are smart enough to know when the person is good or nefarious. They usually apply the correct about of force to fend off someone they see as an unwanted intruder. They will back off if you call them off but will be on standby just in case, never taking their eyes off of them till they feel comfortable. They definitely are a protector and very easy to train. Feed them a proper diet, one rich in nutrients to help with the almost inevitable Hip Dysplasia that has unfortunately been bread into the breed by sloppy breeders. You may be able to fine a breeder with a line testing free of the gene but they are always prone to this. Foods that help build strong bones and healthy joints will help as will proper weight. Not too thin but not overweight. Ask yoir vet for their ideal weight and suggested food and supplements. When they age a good anti-inflammatory will help them walk with less pain if they acquire HD. Our Shepherd did later in life but did okay with proper care.

Yup. There was another video where an old girl was cornered, and just dropped on her belly with a frightened tail wagging, and then started licking/rolling onto her back next to them. I don't know that anyone goes into adoption thinking they will eventually abandon the animal but for those that do it's almost certainly always because they were never shown how to care for a pet by their parents. Generally just one person can help people who do these things simply by example and encouragement. My parents let me adopt/buy animals without any kind of intervention and the animals were unfortunately not in the best way. Luckily my huband patiently taught me the fault in my ways and I know better now. I am sad that my pets (Guinea Pigs fish etc) didn't have their best life 😢 I will never make that mistake again..

I had bull terrier mother & pups, kept Annie & her son Paxie the other pups all adopted to good homes. Almost all lived a very good & loved life❤ When they passed on, after three months purchased a German Shepherd @ 3 mths of age age, my big boy " Duran " lived to be 14 yrs of age when he passed, I started rescuing ferro cats, mothers & babies, working with them & then taking them to shelters for adoption. & rescued about three other pups beautiful breeds in winter, roaming the streets, called my local shelter & had them them rescued, What you give from the heart❤ you get back tenfold! I live in Toronto, Ontario. Canada, This littlevgirl I would adopt in a heart❤beat. Hope she gets the loving & kind home she deserves, Amen!😊

Mine almost was. They said she was dog aggressive and too energetic. She was just a puppy and had been attacked by another dog, and was rehomed three times, abandoned to the streets once, and moved from shelter to shelter twice. I’ve had her for a year and she just celebrated her second “birthday”

If you think about that it's not really about you but just huge separation anxiety and the dog wouldn't care who there is as long as it's anybody, the fact that you feel great about that instead of seeing how sad that actually is for a dog to feel that much stress on a daily basis, I don't know. I firmly believe that it's the pheromones we give off. Different feelings produce different pheromones. They can literally smell fear, anger, joy, love, etc. We keep forgetting just how good their sense of smell is. For that reason alone, if nothing else, if your dog doesn't like someone, take it as a HUGE red flag
