It's all about money. If a single gauge malfunctions, you could just change that gauge. Will be more expensive to replace the whole screen.

@@MrRMT1986 well the thing is, those gauges go out because of a mechanical issue with the gauge, not the computers telling it what to show on the gauge, so really, you would be having less issues because the computers just format it differently, to show all your “gauges” on a screen, and it wouldn’t be a common issue for the screen to be replaced

the EU spec of that engine is actually incredibly reliable, so idk why its not in the us. Enginewise they only very rarely have problems and when they do its usually because of the driver/company

@ժʝ_ Yeah the MX-13 is a great engine and unprecedented in the maintenance intervals (200k km, ~125k miles) or every 1 year. A certain production year/months do tend to get camshaft problems at about 4-500k km's though. The MX-11 is a better engine altogether but i don't think you guys get it in the USA. It has DOHC and the top end version makes 450hp and 1700 ftlbs. It is quite a bit more economical than the MX-13 as well. The only things that tend to break on our trucks are emission related, usually PM sensors or NOx sensors.

The 19’ MX13 I’m driving down is nothing but sensors with me. Been in 3 trucks in 5 months. One needed an entire fuel rail system, DPF and more. The next was all electrical, constant high voltage and coolant sensor. Truck #3 had been parked for almost a month and had a list of electronics I don’t know replaced, but then I got a stack of pages 5 deep non reading or low communication codes. I’m really not liking the motor. And stay away from the paccar transmissions. The 19’ 579 I’m driving is only pushing 455 (some mechanics say 425 tuned down) and we pull British Columbia mountains dedicated @ roughly 95,000-103,000lbs.

Whoever is responsible for the KZbin channel needs to dump the apostrophe at the end of Peterbilt's in the channel's name. This sets off my grammar police OCD as the apostrophe indicates possession. For showing plural, no apostrophe is needed. Otherwise great truck.

Also a nicer interior except for that bar on the floor. That’s a major safety issue for me. You trip on it every time going to the sleeper. WTF would you have that in a nice interior like that? The sleeper is small. I’ll take my modern 579 over this thank you. Plus mine handles better.

Steering wheel is too busy! Too many unnecessary switches. Why do you need stereo controls on the steering wheel when the radio is right within arms reach? Our 579 Pete's that have those controls, when doing tight or complicated backing, frequently accidentally hit the controls when turning the wheel, causing the radio to change channels or volume. Very annoying when you are trying to concentrate on backing up. Also hate the dash. Especially with Peterbuilts track record with their electronics.

no highway truck needs an 18 speed a 10 speed works fine 13 if you drive in mountains a lot and these 12 speed autos are awesome. All that being said I prefer a manual and doing off road heavy haul I need an 18 speed
