Ron Wood was Rod's guitarist before the Rolling Stones. Rod Stewart has a ton of songs and has been around for like 50 years. Try his cover of "I know I'm losing you". It has the Small Faces members who Steve Marriot dumped. Faces by the way is English slang for hipster.

Rod Stewart was originally in a band called,Faces back in the 70's which was originally called Small Faces led by Steve Marriott. Whose big it was Itchycoo Park. Rod Stewart recorded this song in 1971. It was on his first commercially successful album, along with the hit Maggie May. What always resonated with me is Rod has said that after recording Mandolin Wind he spent his whole career trying to recapture a performance as good as the one on the album. It inspired him to perform better. Both this song and Maggie May were originally released as B sides on singles, but became more popular than the A sides they were released with.

Ronnie Wood and Rod have been buddies for years. When the Faces broke up, Ronnie went to play with the Stones. One of the best pickers around. Mandolin Wind was on Rod's first solo album, Every Picture Tells a Story. A perfect album. After a 50 year career, Rod sang the soundtrack of my youth. If you notice the blond man playing the dobro, that was Jeff Golub, who died far too young at 59 of a brain disease. Another awesome musician. Rod has always surrounded himself with great talent.

I fell in love with this song, and the album it's on, Every Picture Tells a Story, when I was a teenager. My aunt had this album, and she was very kind to me, because I was a difficult and lonely kid. At one point, I got shipped off to live with her, and she allowed me to more or less live in her record collection. This music meant so much to me, because it was beautiful, and felt warm and affectionate, which I didn't experience too much of. School, and most adults, and practically everything around me was harsh, confusing, disordered, but this album gave me a place to escape. It still evokes all those feelings, decades later.

Reason to Believe is also a great song, reminds me of a con guy that I used to date. He was a bad man. He knew how to draw people in and use them badly. Stealing, lying, going to jail on a regular basis. True sociopath. The words of that song portrayed him to a tee. BTW, I outsmarted the con guy, finally. Which is why I am sitting here nice and comfortable on a ranch in beautiful country. And not worried or scared about what kind of crazy or dangerous thing will happen next. Just so you all don't worry. LOL
