@@joelliebler5690 I did say "biggest hit" and it was the #1 hit of the year 1976. Nothing I posted is wrong. "Every Picture Tells A Story" is my personal favorite then "Maggie May" and "The Killing of Georgie (parts 1 & 2}". By the way "Maggie May" was a huge hit too in 1971.

i love your sincere reaction you felt the right thing! When it comes out from the right place, it goes right in the right place. Heart to heart. the guitar player was Ronnie Wood, guitar player in the Rolling Stones since 1975, after a common decision with his partner Rod Stewart to split the band. Rod wanted to be Rod and Ronnie was invited to join the world wide band The Rolling Stones. They are still best friends today.

She loved this always and its my favourite too. He is a wonderful singer and I think he is still going strong. The music you play kickstarts the memories and that is a wonderful gift to give sweetheart. Peace to you, love and hugs and God bless you Mary-Ellen UK

Rod can stun you with unexpected, brief little vocal runs like at 2:46, or 3:16, etc. _He doesn't overdo it though._ That's the key to it. He lets the _tone_ of his voice and the beauty of the _melody_ wash over you first. Only when _that's_ established does he start embellishing it. (Aretha Franklin was also awesome at this.) Great reaction to a great song!

Rod has always had the "it" factor. Listen to 1970-1971 live stuff. Sailing included his first solo touring band. The album "Atlantic Crossing" marked his departure from the UK to L.A.. Hair now blond too. Music then gets more polished, slick & disco which infuriated his early fans. Always great, but '70-'71 Faces & 2 solo LPs were the bomb. Search Live "Faces Love in Vain".

A song so good it doesn't need a chorus, the whole song is the hook. I remember this song when it came out. I was playing it at home when my father came over and asked who that was. I told him and when it finished he started it again and then again for a third time. It was not often that we both liked the same music, he was a really big Nat King Cole fan. Although I have learned to appreciate Nat a lot more over the years Sailing was our first musical bonding experience. Maybe this is why it holds such a place in my memories.
