Scotland's greatest singer/ songwriter, has never seeked the limelight or walked on stage with a bottle of buckfast like a wee ned at a national awards show, but is appreciated by millions.

Roddy Frame is quite simply one of the most underrated & underappreciated songwriters ever. The guy is a lyrical & musical genius who deserves & merits much more recognition as such.

2 of this generation's best singer/songwriter's watching in awe of 1 of the most underrated Scottish singers/songwriters of his generation... priceless

Roddy Frame kicks the arse of the Scottish singers and songwriters usually mentioned above him but those who know, know the truth. He’s the best we’ve ever produced.

I watched this when it was broadcast on BBC 2 in 1999. My girlfriend had gone , my job had gone , it was me and a bottle of bulgarian red wine. It was a great evening , I am very glad I can visit it again . I had a great time.

You can see Neil and Graham checking out the chords at different points, huge mutual respect between them all. Roddy is simply, a genius. Always amazes me he's not more well known but he's worth discovering at any point. Hope he tours again soon

Quite possibly one of the most underrated artists ever who deserved and audience far bigger than he has had, fantastic lyricist. The amount of people who have heard me playing stuff who've said Wow who's that and become fans. Kevin, you're a lucky man having worked on his stuff.

This song reminds me of the long-distance relationship I had with a lovely man from Inverness. I used to stand at Killermont Street awaiting eagerly the arrival of my bus at Buchanan Bus Station, sometimes singing this wee song (quietly in my head of course, cos I'm tone deaf). That was almost 2 years ago. We're engaged now. Thanks for posting this.

As the city asleep Shares its dreams and desires Every wish that we keep Will trace a line to other times, other places Though the song of the proud Howls and dies, never fall for defeat Take a trip to reprieve Every hour they leave From Killermont Street Drink a drink to before And our memories spill Adding on as they pour From our Saturdays and secret sensations Drink a drink to tonight Whisky words tumble down in the street With the pain that they cure Sentimentally 🏴🥳 🚌

First time I set foot in Glasgow, I was on a bus, going down Hope Street. As the bus turned the corner to the main bus terminal, I saw the sign for Killermont Street, and got a lump in my throat.

I was so in love with "Somewere in my heart", so I remember hatt the age of 12 or 13 walking into all the record stores every day in my little little Danish town asking "do you have the new Aztec Camera"-album. And I was so happy when they finally had. "Love" is still one of my faourite albums. EDIT: Oh, and Killermont Street ended up being my favourite song from the album. And when I was in Glasgow a few years ago and saw the "Killermont Street"-sign, I suddenly submitted to all kinds of sentimentality.

When music was good, real, not like today’s over produced talentless garbage! Like so many great amazing talents today never get the chance because the industry doesn’t care about intelligence and real musicians. There is amazing music out there just not on radio or tv! I’m glad nobody knows the good ones I can keep them for myself 👍

Simply a perfect song. There's no point in trying to describe it. Its description is in itself and its emotional effect. It's on the same level as "Yesterday" for me.
@fouldsie17 жыл бұрын
Richard Smith Agreed. Though it doesn't do for me what it does for you - Down the Dip is my "perfect" song - there's no doubt that this is an example of a guy at the peak of his considerable ability, & its wonderful, heartbreaking imagery could make a glass eye weep. Wonderful!

I remember watching that episode of the Songwriters Circle (I think it was called) and taping it for posterity. I only discarded it last year, realising that I would never again own a video recorder! I watched it for Neil Finn, so I was thrilled to find that Roddy Frame was also one of the songwriters. (I was a 10CC fan, too.) That one was the very best of a great series.

The only possible way that lineup could be any better was if Paddy McAloon from Prefab Sprout was up their with his stunning British songwriting, lyrics & mosaic of beautiful chords. Neil, Roddy, Graham & Paddy the very best singer songwriters of the Commonwealth & beyond. Unbelievable. Gershwin, Lennon-McCartney, Bacharach... anybody.
